Fox is well aware of who he is facing tonight but he will have his team ready.
The squad that Kentucky head coach John Calipari brings into Athens has been compared to some of the NBA’s squads, seven-foot apples to seven-foot apples. Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer even offered some help after a comment Fox made following Missouri.
“I don’t know if this is true, but somebody told me they’re as big as any NBA team except for one,” Fox said. “Bud texted me last night and said they could scrimmage at 1 [p.m.] and I said that won’t work, we have class.”
Senior guard Taylor Echols, who Fox said he plans to start tomorrow on senior night, said the mismatches make it more important for Georgia to play a stable, mistake-free game.
“It’s always tough when they have a lot of length,” Echols said. “There are certain ways you can make up for that in the game. We’ll look to exploit our advantages and play to our strengths and take advantage of those.”
Fox said this isn’t a game in which one player’s performance is going to carry his team.
“It has to be by committee,” Fox said. “We know we’re outsized and they’re deep and fortunately we have some depth too, and we’ll have to use it all.”
