I'm slowly losing confidence that's our Cats will go undefeated and win #9. Maybe the blowout games spoiled me at the beginning, but they don't seem to have the drive they did then. I sure hope I'm wrong Go Cats

Life must be treating you well, if that is what is staying on your mind.
As for my Big Blue biased prediction: Any team can get hot at the end of the year, but I like Kentucky's chances better than the rest.
Posted by Trey Ball (Member # 332) on 02-04-2015, 10:01 AM:
I'm going the opposite way. I could care less about being undefeated. If they lose a game or two prior to the NCAA Tournament big deal.
I'm more confident than I was 3 weeks ago about their chances of cutting the nets down on April 6th. I think the offense is rounding into form. I have seen a lot of great things on offense the last few games that I was not seeing earlier in the year. I thought ball movement was great last night. If Booker and Aaron have a typical shooting night UK would have put up 80 points easily against a good team. I also like to see KAT finally being quick and decisive in the post. Having a consistent offensive post presence would be huge for this UK team because as of today the best offensive players are the four guards.

I think we "all" would agree if we lose a game or even more the true goal is a National championship. The icing on the cake however would be to go undefeated and win a National Championship.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-04-2015, 08:28 PM:
Yes, like everyone else I would love to see us go unbeaten and win the title 40-0 would be perfect. By the same token if we were to finish 39-1 and hang banner number 9. I won't be heart broken at all.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-04-2015, 11:51 PM:
You could lose a lot more than one game but win the NCAA championship and it would be utopia. That's what you play for all season, "nothing" can beat the trophy at the end of the year.

Even with an 11 loss season last year, everyone pretty much forgot about the regular season losses once we got on a roll in the tourney!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-05-2015, 12:39 PM:
It's a whole new season at tournament time and past games go out the window.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-05-2015, 07:51 PM:
Isn't that the truth!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-05-2015, 08:28 PM:
CAl actually addressed the idea of people expecting perfection from this team. NOt sure if he's trying to direct some of the attention away from the players.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-05-2015, 08:35 PM:
I think Cal is just as guilty as any fan as I'm sure he more than anyone knows how good his team could be if they play up their capabilities.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-05-2015, 08:58 PM:
True, but he's also been around enough ball players to know that there's always room for improvement, but perfection is next to impossible!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-05-2015, 09:13 PM:
If we just keep striving to get better everything will work out just fine. The coachs and players are working hard and will continue to do so.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-05-2015, 09:27 PM:
I'm beginning to think that Cal hasn't fed these boys everything he wants them to eat just yet. YOu can't peak too early if you have finished growing!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-06-2015, 06:23 AM:
I'm hopeful that the confidence will return after this weekend!
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 02-06-2015, 06:41 AM:
If Cal does not have all of his offense and defense in by now, he is not doing his job. It is getting late in the season to be introducing new things, you want to try to perfect what you have been working on as a team since October. Surely to goodness we have all of our offense and defense in by now?????
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-06-2015, 06:45 AM:
I'm just saying there's a month left of regular season ball. He might still be adding a few minor things!
I'm not talking about re-inventing the wheel here!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-06-2015, 06:46 AM:
Something simple like adding another screen for Booker to run through for the open J!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-06-2015, 11:38 AM:
This team has far to much talent not to be getting better. Hopefully we will turn it up a notch against Florida tomorrow night.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-06-2015, 11:39 AM:
I don't care if Cal doesn't do anything new as much as getting the Cats doing the current things better. Our inside game certainly could get better and our defense hasn't been as good as it was earlier in the year either.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-06-2015, 07:15 PM:
Let's rebound the ball better!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-06-2015, 07:16 PM:
Avoiding committing fouls! Move your feet and not your hands, boys!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-07-2015, 04:17 PM:
We certainly have the bigs to rebound that's for sure.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-07-2015, 04:18 PM:
I think the key is play hard the rest follows right with it.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-07-2015, 05:49 PM:
I like coaches mantra. PLAY FOR ONE ANOTHER!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-07-2015, 06:28 PM:
MH, I would think all coachs would want and teach playing together. It's a team game and should be played accordingly.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-07-2015, 06:48 PM:
Yeah, we say that but sometimes teams, I'm not saying any KY teams recently , but some teams (UL) comes to mind, haven't played team ball at times. Usually you can tell by the number of assists in a game!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-07-2015, 08:04 PM:
I doubt Billy would have selfish team too. He is to good of a coach!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-08-2015, 01:37 PM:
Florida averages about 12 assists a game.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-08-2015, 01:41 PM:
I think all the better teams have to average a good number of assists or they wouldn't be were they are.

Cats had 12 assists in the Florida game and Florida had 9! Assists are so important and Ulis is king of the assists for the Cats. (5) assists for Ulis in the Florida game.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-09-2015, 05:43 PM:
It's good proof that they are playing for one another !
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-09-2015, 05:54 PM:
Cal has done a great job getting this team to realize that teamwork is what is needed to make them a special team. We as fans are seeing a team that really cares about each other and the proof has been a undefeated record this late in the season.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-09-2015, 06:40 PM:
Be your brother's keeper. That's coaches mantra.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-09-2015, 06:51 PM:
This team has learned their lessons well and will get even better by tournament time.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-09-2015, 06:52 PM:
I think they are slowly getting better!
Posted by Bama Cat (Member # 153) on 02-09-2015, 07:02 PM:
I still believe it will happen. I thought it when the season began and I'm still a believer. Unless everyone goes cold shooting in the same game we will continue towards an undefeated season. I think we can only get better like the team did come tourney time last year. I also believe we will be surprised when we see who returns next year. We have at least 2 friendships on this team who love to play with one of their team mates and it could influence next years team. It could be even better next year. We'll just have to get over not being able to sign as many top freshmen as we would like to see.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-09-2015, 07:09 PM:
I'm good with that, nothing like have All-American talent as upper classmen!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-09-2015, 08:39 PM:
I hope your right Bama as we are playing good and still have room for improvement. That is a great sign!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-09-2015, 08:51 PM:
There's always room for improvement!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-10-2015, 01:58 PM:
I truly think we can get a lot better. We have so much talent and depth other teams must even hate to think about playing us. WCS ,KAT, Dakari, Lyles and now even Lee in the middle. The Harrisons, Booker, Ulis, Hawkins at the guards. Life is good, real good.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-10-2015, 06:00 PM:
This has to be one of the most talented teams I can remember KY having. '96 would have to rank right up there with this team!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-10-2015, 06:05 PM:
I don't think the 96 team had quite this much depth but they were awfully talented.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-10-2015, 06:09 PM:
Delk McCarty and Pope where seniors on the 96 team. This current team is "much" younger.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 02-10-2015, 06:43 PM:
That '96 team had more shooters on it than this team does. Pope, MErcer, Anderson, Walker, COuld all drop three's whenever the notion came to them!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-10-2015, 06:48 PM:
Pope made a few but didn't take that may in his career. He wasn't bad however for a big man.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-10-2015, 06:56 PM:
Antione Walker was not a good 3 point shooter 30% at best. While at Kentucky he probably averaged under 15 points a game.
Posted by bleedblue12 (Member # 3137) on 02-11-2015, 10:07 AM:
I want them to go undefeated only because that would be one more thing Hoosier Nation could no longer brag about. That is their only last claim to basketball fame.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-11-2015, 11:10 AM:
bb12, if any team had a chance to go all the way undefeated this team is the one. We are so talented and so deep we certainly have the tools to do it. It just worries me that that we don't play up to our capabilities and bury teams that have no business staying with us. We play to win but we don't play to bury teams when we have all the tools to do it. I am afraid it will catch up to us at some point, just hope it doesn't happen in the NCAA tournament.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 02-11-2015, 02:27 PM:
I think the South Carolina game will be one where we can go out and sustain the lead for the whole game and win it substantially. It will help to have Trey back and our guards are due to start making some 3's.
