In the early games today the leagues are tied at one game each. Florida destroyed a very good West Virginia team and Vandy lost to Texas. Vandy have better talent than they have team for some reason or another. Tenn are now playing TCU and Iowa State are playing Texas A&M. Some good games going on now.

Aggies with the big win
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 04:05 PM:
A&M are ranked number 3 in the nation. They are a very good team and will be tough for us to beat, especially playing them only once down at their place. By today's standards, we are not a big team in terms of height and it looks like we will be giving up height to almost everyone we play.
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 04:05 PM:
SEC 2, Big 12 3, All wins are by the home teams.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 01-30-2016, 04:08 PM:
Here's hoping, if no one else can do it, we break the home team winning thing this evening

Arkansas verses Texas Tech coming up
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 04:08 PM:
I forgot about Arkansas beating Texas A&M this week at Arkansas, major upset. Maybe we can play with A&M after all, still wish it were in Rupp.

Home court can be tough to overcome
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 04:28 PM:
Arkansas off to a very bad start against Tubby and Texas Tech, down 14 to 4 early, game at Arkansas.
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 04:46 PM:
Arkansas making a comeback, down 23 to 21 now with 2 minutes to go in first half.
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 06:06 PM:
Arkansas vs Texas Tech going overtime. This is a pivotal game for the SEC, Arkansas blew a ten point lead. How Arkansas beat Texas A&M defied logic.
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 06:25 PM:
Arkansas beat Texas Tech in overtime by a score of 75 to 68 to to tie the SEC/Big 12 challenge at 3 and 3. All are home team wins. LSU are leading Oklahoma by 10 with 12 minutes to go. If LSU can hold on and beat Oklahoma, the SEC will have beaten number one in the nation by unranked LSU, number 9 West Virginia by unranked Florida and number 3 Texas A&M over number 13 Iowa State. Two more ranked Big 12 teams to play, Ga at 17 Baylor and our Cats at number 4 Kansas.
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 01-30-2016, 06:30 PM:
It shows how home court is such a advantage.
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 06:34 PM:
Oklahoma staging a comeback, down by four. LSU have quit guarding the three point shot in the second half like they did in the first half. LSU are shooting 44 percent from behind the arc and Oklahoma are now shooting 42 percent, neither team are much for guarding three point shot attempts.
Posted by Old Norm (Member # 1482) on 01-30-2016, 06:57 PM:
LSU and Oklahoma in a nail biter.
Posted by Old Norm (Member # 1482) on 01-30-2016, 06:59 PM:
LSU blew it. They should've won that game.
Posted by SCWC (Member # 2464) on 01-30-2016, 07:01 PM:
I agree Norm, Jones has to be the weakest late game coach in the SEC. He just does not subscribe to good man to man defense for 40 minutes. They blew a huge lead, should have won that game. SEC now 3 and 4. That game broke the home game win streak, we now have to get that game back against Kansas by stealing one on their floor.
Posted by Old Norm (Member # 1482) on 01-30-2016, 07:01 PM:
We can beat Oklahoma.
Posted by Bama Cat (Member # 153) on 01-30-2016, 10:26 PM:
Just like we should have won ours in regulation. I think we seen another coach who has problems with coaching changes to correct for the way we were playing. We should have stopped driving down the middle at the end but I'm sure Cal was telling them to keep it up. And they just kept fouling Briscoe when Ulis was too tired to drive it every time.

Bama, you are right, Kansas started doubling up on Ulis once he started down the middle and Cal never changed his offense to offset what the Kansas defense had taken away, our most effective weapon.

Last night, at the end of the game, was one of the examples where size really does matter!
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 01-31-2016, 10:48 AM:
Briscoe had a tough night and Kansas took advantage of his play.

Bama you are soooo wrong - we had very little options on the court with All bigs gone and only Alex left. KU was playing a triangle and two on TYler and Murray and packing it in the middle - no driving lanes and NO long looks for those two being face guarded.
It is getting a little old hearing about how "coach blows it" all the time.
Look at the dynamics of the game instead of blaming coach!! geeez
no disrespect intended!

p.s. other than free throws I thought Briscoe played great - he had cramps all the game but still fought like crazy.
We lost because KU got all the calls on drives and we didn't hit our ff when we had opportunities. and once WIllis was on the bench KU just packed it in and dared anyone to shoot but the two mentioned above..
Hard fought game by both and I will welcome the chance to play them again in the tournment..

Amen, too much of a free throw shooting disparity for us to have much of a chance to win. I thought our kids did an outstanding job under the circumstances of this game. The zebras were not going to let UK ruin the Kansas home win streak, that was pretty obvious once the second half started.

100 percent agree Ray
Posted by catmandoo (Member # 1284) on 01-31-2016, 04:22 PM:
It really hurt when both Lee, fouled in 12 minutes of playing time, Skal in 14 and Willis in 23 minutes. That's a lot of boards and scoring to have sitting on the bench. It's awfully tough too when you have Briscoe in a overtime game when he is such a bad shooter from the line plus from the outside and having Hawkins in his first game back from a injury playing in the over-time. It's a accident waiting to happen and Self and his team took full advantage of it.
