Box Score

A game we should have won but didn't. Team seems to be out of sync right now, have not played well the last three games, far too many unforced turnovers.

Monk has to take better shots. There are alot of times where he takes a quick jumper with no passing. He needs to be a little more patient and take better shots. If he isn't hitting he needs to try to get to the basket, or lane for a nice pull up. No way he should have taken 13 three's. he only took 6 2 point shots. Cal should take him out when he is just launching shots up that are not smart and help him start to realize what a good shot is. He is a great talent, and scorer, but sometimes he takes terrible shots. Also, the defense is awful. Bam is a liability on defense, and monk isn't that great either. No way Tenn. should get 82 points on us. Hope we play better against Kansas. If we play d like this we will get blown out of our own gym.

Very true, Ukman. Right now Monk is a scorer and nothing more. He rarely gets assists, steals and rebounds, and he can't guard anyone. It doesn't even look like he wants to guard anyone. I think he's already in NBA mode. When Bam is making free throws he's a very effective player, but like Monk, he can't guard anyone. And why the heck is he out trying to guard people at half court???? Briscoe is going backwards in my opinion. His shot may have improved, but his decision making is just atrocious.

In our 3 losses we are 19-70 on three-pointers. When this team isn't hitting outside shots, it is just a mediocre team.

Exactly, guys. I told someone last night that Adabayo couldn't even block my shot. and I'm and old 6'3" guy. He just doesn't have quick reflexes and anticipation like some of our past rim protectors. I think we're finding out that Cal's defensive scheme (notice that I used the singular there) doesn't work very well without 1 or 2 rim protectors. We could have used M. Lee this year. Why Cal let's Monk jack up bad shots and allows Briscoe to log mega-minutes while stinking up the gym is beyond me. I'll quit here, but this team has multiple deficiencies that start with the coach.

I have been wondering for the last month or so if Lee regrets leaving Kentucky. I'm pretty sure he'd be starting, or at least getting more than 20 minutes a game. He may not have been an offensive machine, but he would at least put up the same numbers as Willis and Gabriel, and he'd be our best low-post defender.

I asked a co-worker today if it's a requirement that you not be able to play defense in order to be a McDonald's AA!?!?!
