I wish I was smart enough to be the author of this, but I ain’t. It was from some guy named Josh and not a UK site. I did add football to the title and would have included players not choosing to play in Bowl games.

“With the advent of eye-popping player compensation (NIL) and quick and easy transferring (TP), what is the true mission of college basketball now? Is it still the pursuit of team excellence? Is it still about teams winning games and championships? Or is it becoming more of a means of personal enrichment? Is it turning into a vehicle for individual players to make big money while developing their own individual skills for professional basketball? As this season unfolds we are seeing the contradiction come into focus, not just with our team, but all across the college basketball landscape.”

I could nitpick a couple of things but overall, I think he hits the nail on the head.

I totally agree. NIL has changed the landscape of college athletics. While I think kids should be able to profit from their name and talents, I think the regulatory piece is lacking. Just my $.02
