I saw the last 14 minutes and change. As the score goes it was over but this team kept a very steady rhythm to their game. A small sample size to look at but even when changing players in and out, they played the same.

They also made the game easy, both to watch but more so for themselves. They fought hard on defense, and given that they had spent what, the last 4 months defending themselves, facing new players they did very well both individually and as a team. Offensively they also played hard but under control. Shots weren't forced but taken when there. Extra passes were the norm and players seemed to be in scoring positions when receiving the ball.

Other than the assist and turnover numbers, we shared and took care of the basketball very well, I wouldn't look to hard at the box score. Be honest, this wasn't a SEC level team we played tonight. I can't see team statistics such as these consistently through the season, but I can see several players each game posting good numbers. We have a team of shooters, and we need to be careful to not fall in love with the three, but we must also keep in mind that you miss every shot you don't take. Any one of these kids will be able to demoralize and decapitate at team on any given night.

Bottom line, this group will take some hits, but they will also deliver some knockout blows as well. I did not see a single player make a mistake on either end of the court and look to the bench for his replacement. I saw all 5 players play more or less all 5 positions. They hustled baseline to baseline in both directions until the last 7 seconds on the clock. I could be wrong, but I will guess that if we are up 15 at the 5 minute mark there will be no taking the foot off the gas, no freezing the ball on offense, and no chance that we lose the game unless the other team simply becomes superhuman at the end.

From this sample I have one single prediction, Kentucky Wildcat Basketball will be FUN to watch this year.

Completely different BB than we've seen around here in several years. I agree this team was not on our level but we played hard for 40 minutes. That's the first time I've seen a UK team play good BB for that long. Those teams we play in the future better hope they can cover 5 guys all the time or a trhee is going in. We have only one person who will need a little more experience to catch up with the rest and that would be Garrison. He seems a little nervous but he will catch up. The other 10 guys did not show a weakness anywhere and Krissa did not even get on the floor. My only complaint is the signal froze numerous times while watching ESPN+. But that happened last year also. Hope we don't have many games on streaming.

Not that this means much, but Wesleyan did beat Louisville last year, and they returned five of their top six players.

We may take some lumps this year, but this is gonna be a fun team to watch. Boy can they shoot the lights out!!!

They played well. I think we will live and die my made threes all year which is ok. This team will not get to the Free Throw line a lot this year.

I think they will struggle against the more athletic/better teams unless they are knocking down 20 plus threes a game.

I watched the game on some bootleg YouTube channel. My take is either of these three:

(1) Kentucky Weslyan was paid not to defend the 3

(2) They were totally inept at it

(3) Our offense is damn good at getting the ball to the open shooter.

Let's hope it was option 3. One thing for sure, when we get a good look a the basket, it is likely to go in. But, SEC-caliber teams will not give us so many open looks.

I say the third option also. All I can say is they better have 5 guys that can stay in the face of our 5 guys, no matter which 5, or it's curtains for a lot of the SEC teams. How many times will you put the last guy on the bench in and he lights you up for four 3's real quick? There's not much need to worry who the starting five will be. I'm wondering how the starting 10 will be decided. Hello BB goodbye FB when will the final shoe fall??

Arkansas will. All we have to do is make three passes and we'll have someone wide open. [Big Grin]
