I really can’t find much to complain about, but I did see two negatives.

1) Our free throw defense needs some work. We let them shoot around 75% from the line.

2) We lost the offensive rebound battle. It appears we lost it because we made too high a percentage of our shots. So if we would take a few more bad shots we can probably correct that.

seriously we looked good from 9 guys perspective. We have 9 guys who are playing well. The other 3 Garrison and the two KY freshmen still need more reps to improve their game. When, or if that happens look out.

It feels like Kentucky basketball again. I'm excited.

Maybe we could bring Bill G in to consult on free throw defense

They played well. I was glad to see they took what was available to them to start the game.

I still think they will struggle against better teams, but they will compete and that is all you can ask of a team.

First thing...I found the complete game on you tube. Was watching it on my phone, which was OK because I was doing that while waiting for a customer to arrive at work at 4:00 AM. Didn't finish before he arrived so sought it out at home in the morning. I discovered that if you use Roku, and have the you tube app on at the time, when you bring up the game on your phone somehow it shows on the TV. Don't ask me how, and I'll be surprised if I get it to do it again ever, but for a brief moment I felt like a true streaming nerd... [Eek!]

The game. After 2 exhibition games and 1 regular season game it is obvious that we have some seasoned players. They are grown men and act like it, and play like it. On defense they move their feet and don't go for shot fakes. Both eliminate silly fouls. On offense they move with purpose, even away from the ball and know that they will resume their place on the offense soon. Combination of coaching and experience I would say, at least at this point. Hard cuts, by every player, every time.

No player that I have seen has made a mistake and looked to the bench for his replacement. It would seem that the only inexcusable act would be to not try, at any level of the game on either end of the floor. I saw a couple of players miss a shot, get the ball right back and then make a shot, no stutter in the action, no hesitation in the attack, which leads to my most joyful observation...

...they don;t come across the midcourt line, and look for the coach to call a play [Wink] [Cool] [Big Grin] I am going to very quickly become addicted to again watching a Kentucky Wildcat Basketball Team that can push the pace of the game for 40 minutes, not just when the opportunity presents itself in open court transition. They are not allowing the defense to rest, to gather and to find their spot. If the other guy turns his head or trots back, it's over folks, write them down. The offense starts at the moment of possession, and is constant.

There seems to be a purpose to the substitutions. Mainly, to keep guys fresh, but to also coach them up and not to punish them. 10 players shared the bulk of the minutes, and all 10 contributed. The lone player of the 10 with double digit minutes that didn't score had 5 assists, a rebound and a steal, and only 1 turnover.

Finally, I think I have seen enough to believe that all 5 players on the court are eligible to contribute. No dead spots on either end of the court. No one just filling a position for the other guys.

Needless to say, there is a lot that I like about this team and the play they have shown. Teams can't just be better than us to win, they have to play better too. That idea have me excited for Kentucky Basketball once again.

Couldn't agree more, CFR. The team plays free, not scared. It's a nice breath of fresh air from what we've been accustomed to.

If you miss a shot, don't worry. You'll get another chance in less than 60 secs.
