So UK finishes the Non-Conference Power 5 schedule at 3-2.

I thought before the season started they would finish it 1-4 as I did not expect the wins against Duke and Gonzaga. I only had them beating Louisville.

If they can finish 7-11 in the SEC I think they will make the NCAA Field finishing the Regular Season at 18-13. Those two wins over Duke and Gonzaga will carry some weight. The embarrassment against OSU will hurt the other way.

May have to win one SEC Tournament game for insurance.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

One bad game Trey. It's Christmas cheer up. Drink something blue. I have plenty of Blue Kool Aid for you.

I have had them at 7-11 in the SEC since before the season. Still see it as true.

They just are not as talented as a lot of the other rosters/teams in the SEC and there is nothing wrong with that. This team is exactly what I expected from a talent perspective: Smart, play hard, no true post player, and all players lack natural individual shot making skills, and I have never thought that they would shoot that well against Power 5 Opponents (hence why I started that topic prior to the season) although it is actually WORSE than I anticipated. Playing at Kentucky is a huge jump up from playing at Delaware, FDU, Dayton, BYU, and even Oklahoma/Oklahoma State/West Virginia.

Pope stole two games with his coaching and I am counting on him stealing a few more to finish at 7-11 in the SEC.

No you had them as a .500 team or worse. They have already done better than that.
Then you flipped the question on me and asked where I thought they would finish. I said 25-6 or 27-4.

As good as the SEC is this year. I think 20-10 is very very respectable and will command a great seeding.

To insinuate that Pope stole the games against Duke and Gonzaga as if the players didn't play great games or overcome extreme adversity is a complete slight against them. (Yes Coach Pope did his part and did it well.)

The Duke game showed that those Men from OK St, BYU and FDU etc can play with top Tier talent.

The Gonzaga game showed they can comeback from a huge deficit with no PG. Yet you talk about all of them be so inferior to the rest of the field.

At this point Trey you sound like you will never be happy or optimistic.

Incorrect......this is from May 31, 2024. I have always had them at 7-11 in the SEC. I said 0.500 or 1 to 2 games worse or better for the year. Since they got two games I didn't think they would get in the Power 5 Non-Conference I am saying 18-13.

PC - I think going 0.500 in the SEC is a big if with the way the schedule landed. I would say 7-11 would be an average finish with maybe a 10-8 as a high and 5-13 as a low.

We also know UK will play Duke/Gonzaga/Ohio State in a neutral setting this year and then get either UNC or Clemson I would guess in the ACC/SEC Challenge and they have the game against Louisville and St. Johns and another 6 or 7 games yet to be released.

Who says I am not happy? I am extremely happy and very realistic with the record I still expect that Cats to produce.

I guess the bigger question is why would you change your projection from 27-4 or 25-6?

Seems like the Cats are playing right on with what you were projecting in May so why now would you say they were going to lose 10 games?

Every post is: we don’t shoot well look at the percentage; we don’t have an inside player; we don’t have shot creators; blah blah blah.

Im still hopeful for a 27-4 or 25-6. But the SEC is a beast. There are going to be some tougher games than I expected.

You on the other hand went from .500 or worse to “oh i said all along 17-13.”

My only issue is your opinions are very matter of fact. They are not very positive, ever. And right now this team screams positivity.

I went from 16-15 to 18-13 because they won two games Duke and Gonzaga that I did not believe they would win.

I have always said 7-11 in the SEC and put the original post in here.

And yes, I point out the deficiencies because they are the deficiencies that I thought were going to be there.
