Simple question, does the game tonight result define the season?

CFR,
Not for me. Everyone on here knows my thoughts and this year is no different. If we don't cut down the nets I could care less if we lose in the 1st round or the title game. Same result, no championship.
I always measure the season in three phases:
1. Regular Season with the Goal of winning the SEC. Although UK failed to win the SEC, I had no thoughts that they would. They finished 4 positions higher than I anticipated so that is a positive. The 8 wins over the Top 15 helps bring UK back to prevalence on the national stage. I don't think UK has had 8 wins over the last 5 years against Top 15 teams.
2. Win the SEC Tournament. Once again no expectation that they would, but this is all or nothing prop for me. So a failure.
3. NCAA Championship - Yet to be determined, but I am going to say this will be a failure as well.
So overall, I view this as a positive season due to the regular season results, especially when battling through all of the injuries. [ 03-21-2025, 03:05 PM: Message edited by: Trey Ball ]
-------------------- Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Not for me either. They exceeded my expectations and I consider this first season and UK basketball a success this year. For me, any additional games won are a bonus. [ 03-22-2025, 08:05 PM: Message edited by: handycat ]

Trey, UK is only one of three teams in history to have 8 wins against top-15 teams. This is the first time UK has ever done that.
Pretty impressive, if you ask me.

Given that Pope had about 4 weeks to throw a team together, all but 3 players coming from the transfer portal. Injuries put the brakes on being an outstanding season. Three point shooting has been the make or break for us all season and that won't change in the tourney either!
I consider it a success knowing that on any given night we had a chance to beat some of the best teams in the country!

Overall this has been a huge success. However, if we lose another 1st round game it will be a failure. If we lose in the 2nd round it's still a success, but we should not go out in the first round to Troy. Tonight will decide if the season was a success or not for me.

Absolutely. That is why I said the season is a success.
However, I will not lower my standard on tournaments. It is all or nothing for me.
I really don't care if they lose 1st round or final. Actually to me, losing in the 1st round is less painful than losing in the Title Game. [ 03-22-2025, 11:20 AM: Message edited by: Trey Ball ]

I'm already set to lose a game soon and be on to next year. From what we have for next years team already, if no one transfers or goes portal is only god. Pope will have to come up with some star power in the portal or we'll be the same as this year, just a good team. We have a good center coming in and another already here if he stays. Not sure if they can carry the load. We have 3 guards/wings coming in and 3 sophmores coming back if they don't leave. Looks like we need to find a couple of big forwards in the portal and maybe a well experienced center.

I think it's been really successful, considering all the injuries that we've had. When at full strength this team could beat anyone. If we can some how beat Illinois tomorrow we've already proven that we can beat Tennessee. So let's go Cats.
