We have our first one. He's a 6-8 wing from Tulane. Watch Pope move.

He had good numbers, but with a 9 million dollar NIL budget you'd think we would get top 10 instead of in number 23. I hope he turns into a superstar.

This is going to sound bad, but $9 million is small for and NIL Collective. I have been saying that UK is going to have to rely on coaching to win because UK is going to be at a talent deficit, even in the SEC, due to NIL. There are currently 10 other SEC schools with more funds than UK, led by Texas. Top NIL Collective SEC Schools are as follows:
1. Texas $22M
2. LSU $20M
3. UGA $18M
4. A&M $17M
5. Bama $16M
6. Florida $16M
7. Oklahoma $15M
8. Arkansas $12M
9. Auburn $12M
10. Tenn $12M
11. UK $11M
12. USC $10M
13. Ole Miss $9M
14. Mizzu $7M
15. MSU $6M
16. Vandy - Unreported since they are private
I think have of the Big Ten Schools have more NIL funds than UK and half of the ACC schools.
Then you have the Billionaires at a lot of these schools that have promised unlimited funds, not in the NIL Collectives numbers, to bring championships to places like Arkansas/Oregon/Indiana/Penn State/Texas/Oklahoma State/BYU (BYU paid $8.5 Million for AJ Dybansta alone).
UK is fighting an uphill battle in my opinion.
The only equal footing that UK has with the Power 5 schools is the $20.5 Million that the NCAA is giving each Power 5 school to pay players starting next year, but the NIL Collectives and NIL money from Billionaires is completely unrestricted at this time.
The non power 5 schools basically have no chance because they will not even get the $20.5 Million, it will be a very small number compared to the Power 5. So basically if you are even a marginal player you will choose to go sit the bench at a Power 5 School vs. going to a Mid-Major simply because you are going to get a larger payday from the $20.5 million.

Man, this absolutely sucks.
If the NCAA doesn't remedy this, I am pretty much done with sports. And I mean ALL sports.
Seeing boatloads of millionaire athletes at age 18 makes me rethink my own priorities in life.

The portal seems to be less about recruiting and more like an ebay auction.

While it can add excitement once the season ends, I find it stressful.
Much like games, there's nothing I can do to control the outcome but I get drawn in.
Also like games, I have to trust the coaching staff to do their best as they want to succeed as much as I want them to succeed.
