quote: Despite an NCAA-record eight wins over top-15 teams, several of Kentucky's limitations this season were a lack of high-end talent, defense, rebounding, and rim protection, which put a hard cap on what the Wildcats were capable of at times this season.
One of the main criticisms of head coach Mark Pope has been the perception that he can't close in high-profile recruitments and has been hesitant to jump into big-time bidding wars in the transfer portal.
Pope just addressed all of that.

This is HUGE!! Quaintance was the favorite of mine from Cals recruits last season. I loved what I saw of him and was really looking forward to having him, especially since he would have been here 2 years. We will only have him for one, but it should be a fun one. He will help our defense and rebounding immensely. Averaged 2.6 blocks a game. Having a rim protector should be a big help. I'm getting excited about next year already.

Assuming no setbacks with the ACL surgery he should be able to contribute starting late January or early February. Hopefully he will play with the same ruggedness as he did prior to tearing his ACL.
-------------------- Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Trey, Word is that the ACL was not as bad as some and doctors are saying he should be cleared for contact by September and should be 100% by the first game.

Cool, That would be nice. Fingers crossed that is the case.
History is not on his side though. The only professional athlete that comes to mind that came back in 6 months at full strength and immediately returned to his same dominant self pre injury is Adrian Peterson.
EDIT:
https://www.si.com/fannation/nba/fastbreak/injuries/acl-injury-stanford-study-nba-players-return-to-game
I know this article is 4 years old, but at the time the study looked at all ACL tears for NBA players since 1980. It was a total of 97, the study eliminated 47 of those because they player had prior ACL tear in college or high school or played in other professional leagues year round.
Of those 50 cases the average recovery time was 9.8 months.
Good news the data showed that most players performed at their pre injury level. [ 04-08-2025, 07:35 PM: Message edited by: Trey Ball ]
