Guys, take care of yourselves. Don't put things off until you are too old to do them. This old age thing will sneak up on you before you know it. I now "know it". Yesterday, I got down on my hands and knees to check something we had stored under a tall table. When I was finished, I was totally shocked that I couldn't get up. Millie brought a cane to me, but that was no help. I finally crawled the 6 or 7 feet, over to my recliner, knelt in front of it, put my elbows on the seat, and got up that way. I had experienced difficulty with getting up before, but this time I just couldn't do it. Then, this morning, when I came out to the TV room, it was really cold. I turned on the space heater, then when I turned around, I spotted the problem. The door to the carport was standing wide open. It was 37 degrees outside. Usually, before going to bed, I check all the doors to make sure they are locked and latched. I failed to do that last night. I am not just losing my muscular functioning, but my memory as well. This has hit me pretty hard and is a shock to me.

I'm not quite to that point yet, but I'm at the stage where you walk into a room and forget what you were coming into the room for to begin with!
Looking the room high and low for the glasses that are sitting on top of your head. Forgetting a famous persons name when you just said it just a few short minutes ago!

I understand what you guys are dealing with. It can be amusing to an outsider but not to you or your family. I know, because I have already been there. I had to begin using my walker just two days ago. I am happy I have the walker. You guys be careful regarding your balance. Good luck.

I'll be 86 in April. I don't have any significant medical problems. Just getting weak and forgetful.

Well if it is any solace I'm having a hard time getting up and I've left the garage door open multiple times this year and just like you Old Norm and generally always check all doors and locks before going to bed.
I'll be turning 50 so at this rate I may not see 70.
