Anthony Edwards, who is ranked the #1 player in the 2019 class by some services, cut his final list to four and Kentucky made the cut.
Kentucky joins Florida State, Georgia, and North Carolina as the final contenders for the 6’5” shooting guard who reclassified from the 2020 class.
Edwards took a visit to Kentucky last week, and told Evan Daniels that he enjoyed his trip to Lexington.
“It was great,” Edwards told Daniels about the visit. “It was a great atmosphere, the game and the fans at the game kept saying ‘we want Ant.’ Coach Cal is a great dude. Kenny Payne is a great dude and I’m really close with Ashton [Hagans] and Tyler Herro.”
Hagans is of course also from Georgia.
Edwards said that during his meeting with John Calipari, Cal touted the success of players like De’Aaron Fox, Jamal Murray, Malik Monk, and others, telling Edwards that by coming to Kentucky, he could help Edwards achieve his dream.
Outside of being in a raucous Rupp Arena for the Kansas game and meeting with Calipari, Edwards also met with Mitch Barnhart and toured the campus and the dorms.

Looks like he has only 1 blue blood school left on his list, that being UK. If he decides he wants to attend a blue blood school it will be UK since GA and FL ST are the only other schools left on his list. It's looking pretty good for UK to get Jalen and Anthony.
Five-star guard Anthony Edwards made a change to his official visit schedule, a source tells 247Sports.
Edwards, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard prospect, was planning to visit North Carolina on Monday, but that visit has since been canceled. Edwards official visit to Florida State, which is set for Feb. 9, is still on.
The Atlanta (Ga.) Holy Spirit standout has previously taken official visits to Georgia and Kentucky. He also took an unofficial visit to Georgia last weekend.

Reports are that he likely will end up at GA. Not sure the young man knows enough about Crean to make a good decision there!

Georgia and Florida State are getting the most buzz right now and if Hero, Hagans and Quickley return I can see why.

Florida St may still be on his list of three but I'm betting he goes to GA or UK.
"""Five-star guard Anthony Edwards has canceled his scheduled official visit to Florida State, a source close to the situation told 247Sports.
Edwards, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound shooting guard, was originally scheduled to visit the Seminoles this weekend, prior to announcing his college decision on Monday. That visit is now off.
While Edwards hasn't taken an official visit to Florida State, he did take an unofficial there earlier in his career. A source close to Edwards told 247Sports that the Seminoles are still on his list of final three that also includes Georgia and Kentucky."""

Now that Edwards has picked GA like we all knew he would we can move on to the next 2019 kid that will also not pick UK. Seems like we are in this position every year lately. It's like pie in the sky for us. There's a couple more out there that we are chasing as second tier recruits, as far as kids Cal really wants. Not sure if we are going to get any of those who are on our offer sheet. The ones who wait till spring to make their decisions usually end up elsewhere. I think we will be alright next season though. We have several guys who are not just good enough to get drafted and if we end up exiting the tourneys early that will just cement their option to return to UK.

We always have some guys that aren't good enough to go pro, but somehow they still go. That's what worries me nowadays. Cal needs to figure out why he is missing out on these top guys, or figure out how to get guys to stay around for a couple years. If we only lose PJ, Travis, and Kj, I think we will be okay, but if we lose more it could be tough.
