Jay Scrubb is quietly one of the better recruits in 2020, but you don’t hear about him much because he’s not a high school prospect. Instead, Scrubb is regarded as the best junior college prospect for 2020.
Currently at John Logan College, Scrubb is actually a Kentucky native who played at Trinity High School. But after getting little interest from Division I colleges, he opted for the JUCO route, and now he’s getting interest from college across the nation.
On Sunday, Scrubb’s top 10 as announced, and it actually included Kentucky, even though John Calipari has yet to extend an offer.
A 6-6, 220-pound wing, Scrubb averaged 19.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in his first season at John A. Logan. He currently holds offers from the Louisville Cardinals, Memphis Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas Tech Red Raiders and Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Scrubb was so good as a JUCO freshman that he was invited to the Team USA U19 and made a big impression there.
“They haven’t had a JUCO player at the U-19 trials in a while,” said ESPN college basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla via ZagsBlog. “For him to be invited says a lot. It’s a credit to him. He’s one of the best players here.”
