Keyonte George is the No. 6 player in the class of 2022 and the No. 2 point guard in the class. And as of now, there appears to be four schools that have separated themselves from the pack to land George for the 2022 season.
Kansas, Texas, Texas Tech and Kentucky have all been gunning for five-star pretty hard as of late, and George is taking notice.
As of now, the Red Raiders seem to be the heavy favorite for George, who took a visit to Lubbock last season, coincidentally for the Kentucky game, in which the Wildcats won. George spoke highly of the Red Raiders and coach Chris Beard.
So what did George have to say of Kentucky? Here’s an excerpt from his talk with Rivals’ Jamie Shaw:
“They are a winning program as well, I know they’re not doing well right now, but they have a winning culture. Coach (John) Calipari is going to coach you hard and he is going to get you where you want to be, push you to be your absolute best.”
George said that the G-League route is always an option, but as of right now, he is strictly looking at colleges.
George said that he is hoping to make a decision on a school before his senior season in high school. Keep in mind, George is a Texas native, so stealing him from the hometown, heavy favorite Red Raiders is going to be a tall task, but it’s one that John Calipari and company could pull off.
