"Brooks said he hasn't been given a specific number of games he needs to win to save his job. But a six-win season that results in Kentucky's first bowl appearance since 1999 is a safe bet.

"I know we're a better team, now we have to go out and prove it," he said. "I'm hopeful we'll be able to win a minimum of six games and get into post-season play. I think if we do that and don't look awful in the games we lose, I think we'll be moving forward in a pretty good situation.

"Anything less than that, then we're back into the 'what-ifs.'"
