When do you think our defense will show up and play football this year? Just wondering becaue they've almost given up enough yards this year to almost get to the moon!! I know that seems like a long way but have you sat down and totaled up the yards we've given up this year so far?
We were lucky to survive this one tonight!!

IMHO, our defense will never show up as long as Archer is calling the shots. If Brooks had any gumption, he would fire him right now in the middle of the season. These guys couldn't play much worse if someone just ran out the best 11 defenders and told them to improvise something.

I think telling 11 guys to go out and improvise something would be an improvement. It might go something like this:
"OK, you 4 guys take the receivers. Wherever they go, you go. If they run completely out of the stadium into the parking lot, you go with them. The rest of us are going to tackle the guy with the ball."

Anyway, it looks like this:
In 5 games, UK has given up 2308 yards of offense. That's 461.6 yards per game. Which, when compared to the 11 other teams in the conference, is good enough for dead last.
UK gave up 411 yards through the air last night. 411 passing yards against a MAC team that ran an open offense for sure, but UK should have been able to keep them in check.
Spurrier is coming to town next week. I bet when he sees that UK gave up 411 to Central Michigan through the air, oh how that S*** eating grin of his must have burst forth.
I'm glad UK is 3-2 and things are looking god from the offensive side of the ball. But UK has the prime meat of the schedule that they're going into now. Unless they shore up and show up with some kind of defense that actually passes for a collegiate level defense, they are going to get eaten alive out there.
UK has the players to make it happen. It's not lack of talent, it's not depth, it's not injury. It's the system. It sucks. It sucks bad. It has to change and it has to change now.
I think Archer either does a complete overhaul, or he's gone. If it was up to me, he would have been gone 2 seasons ago...

IT's amazing how much this defense overpursues, especially on kick returns. That is the first thing you learn in little league football is to STAY AT HOME on the weakside. We keep getting burned on those plays....I'm sick of Archer.

I believe Archer has just about worn out his welcome here. Prevent defense doesn't work when you are ahead trying to preserve a lead. You quit being aggressive and you end up getting burned. Ask John L. Smith at Mich. St. after that Notre Dame meltdown!

shoot, ask Archer about the LSU meltdown a couple of seasons ago.
I mean, an 80 yard bomb for a TD on the last play of the game... are you kidding me?
giving up 460+ yards of offense per game isn't getting it done. I mean, if that's what we're going to settle on then we should have just kept Hal Mumme here...
