Brooks wasn't amused. After Tuesday's practice, he made Lyons and redshirt defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, who said Mississippi State was a game UK was "supposed to win," run extra wind sprints.

Lyons said yesterday that he made those comments to generate some confidence among his teammates.

They scheduled 12 games just so they could get six games that they are "supposed to win". Looks like he got punished for honesty.

Six wins or not, Brooks needs to go IMO.

i just hope they don't embarrass themselves like they did at lsu.i think if they do he will probably be gone.... i don't understand him reprimanding a player to the public for showing emotion. this team needs confidence so bad. if he was so upset about it i would think it would be a internal reprimand.

With UK's record over the last several years comments "that we should beat" or "we're better than" are nothing but whistling past the graveyard.

this time he wasn't whistling in the wind and maybe, just maybe, it was what inspired his teammates to give some extra effort for the victory. i for one am glad to see one of the players show some confidence that has been lacking for a long, long time.

yeah, I was rather miffed that the coaches put the muzzle on Lyons after the Miss St. game.

I think that is why Brooks was mad at Lyons. At this point UK has not beat anyone that gives us the right to run off at the mouth about beating anybody.

I think it is great that Lyons said this and maybe it gave the Cats the edge we needed to beat Miss St. But untill we can play teams like LSU, Florida, Georgia and Tennesse and them not expect to roll over us, comments like that should not be made to the press. Keep them in the locker room.

I like his comment but he was not real accurate in what he said. We were just plain old lucky to escape with this win. True the offense scored but the defense gave up almost as many points. If they hadn't reviewed Lyons catch going out of the end zone we would have lost the game. I sure hope they can get lucky in these next 3 games but I sereiously doubt it will happen. My prediction is for 1 or 2 more wins which might make us 6-6. But I'll also bet that misfortune strikes again and someone beats us out of the final SEC contracted bowl spot and we stay home again. I have heard that when Coach Brooks made Dicky Lyons run for what he said ,,the whole team went running with him,,That gave me cold chills,,we may have the makings of a football "team" here and not even know it.We can only hope
I love that Lyons kid,hes a spunky one! [Cool]
