Tony Soprano, the alter ego of Rutgers graduate James Gandolfini, couldn't have staged a more profound whacking than the one his alma mater leveled on Louisville last night. With cement shoes tied to their offense in the second half, the No. 3 Cardinals watched a 25-7 lead evaporate into a crushing 28-25 defeat before 44,111 delirious fans at Rutgers Stadium.

i watched the game and although it was a close score i thought rutgers reaaly showed they were a better team by shutting louisville completely out in the second half. i don't think any of the big east teams would fair that well in the big ten, sec or any other of the better football conferances.

The old cliche/adage that it's all about winning in the trenches was never more appropriate. Rutgers owned the line of scrimmage in the second half. It is fortunate and just that the Big East won't have a contender in championship game. And isn't it fitting that UL lost due to a penalty?
