Those of you who have been so down on Barnhart and Coach Brooks, please let the rest of us enjoy these happy days. Next week this team will be going for a 7-4 record going into the UT game. There are not a lot of members here who predicted this before the season.

One of two more good recruiting classes and we may be looking at 7-4 or 7-5 each year.

Coach Brooks knows how to build a loser into a winner, now let's all unite to support him and this gutty group of players.

I'm with Coach Brooks. I just have a problem with the defense, and I believe we could do a lot better than what Archer's implementing. His schemes have given up way too many yards the last few years. I'm okay with Brooks staying, just wish he would consider another Defensive coordinator.

We have a good nucleus of players returning next year, and should expect at least a 7-4 season. I'm very pleased with either 7-5 or 8-4 this year, depending on what we do with Tennessee. This assumes we win next week (and we should easily)

I said 7-5 but thought we would beat SC and lose to Ga. Now I am thinking that it could even be 8-4 with the way our offense is playing. Wouldn't that be great!! [Big Grin]

The thing is with this defense lately...I don't understand how they are doing it, they are giving up tons of yards but they are coming up with the turnovers at key points in the game.

and damn are they dishing out the hits on people.

the only thing that is still irking the bejesus out of me is that some guys still aren't using their arms to tackle people.

and they most elementary, most basic, the very first thing they teach you as a young man playing pee-wee football at defensive back...

you get as deep as the deepest and as wide as the widest man on the field.

I'll be damned if UK's defense didn't have a replay of the LSU game from a few years ago today against Vandy. Vandy gets a TD on a hail mary on the last play of the game. It's a good thing UK had an 18 point lead this time...

If I were Archer, I would go into the practice on Monday and tell the defensive backs that if we are ever in a situation again where a team is down to the last play and they need a hail mary TD to win and when they throw the ball...if anyone goes for the interception instead of simply knocking the ball down, I will personally march out to the spot where you are standing on that field and KILL you.

Then I would walk over to the recruits that were watching the game and tell them how big of an idiot you were.

...but that's me...

I'm sure Mike will put it in somewhat more subtle terms.

in any case, I'm glad the Cats are bowl eligible now. 6-4 feels good. 7-4 will feel better. 8-4 would be climatic, especially considering the team UK would have to beat to get to 8-4.

A New Year's Day bowl would be great, but I would take any bowl at this point. It just feels good to be looking at post-season play in football.
