Impressive start. Big break on non-fumble. Weird, computer audio 15 secs behind TV, instant audio replay. Now it's up to defense.

Bend, don't break.

These REFS are something else, aren't they guys? [Roll Eyes]

Cats have used at least 5 of their 9 lives. Can't dodge bullets forever. UK line being dominated both ways.

Wow. Looks like both teams have trouble holding onto the pigskin.

Clemson looks to be the better team on both offense and defense thus far. UK's passing game has yet to get untracked. The turnovers have kept the game in suspense. I hope Woodson and Burton can connect for a big gainer soon.

Is it just me, or does Woodson seem to "not have it" today?

I suppose if I had to face Gaines Adams in my facemask every single pass play I might not "have it" either. Our O-line has done a pretty poor job in pass-protection today. I only remember two blitz plays by Clemson -- thier front-four can put sufficient pressure by themselves!

Fake punt -- YES!

Touchdown KENTUCKY!

What a gutsy call!!

Awesome Baby I love it, this is great!

Did you notice that we had three guys in the backfield blocking for Woodson on that TD play? I think we figured out how to stop their pass rush!

Nice pass, and nice catch by Demareo Ford. 70 yard TD play!

If there is a god of football, he's/she's on UK's side. Nothing to lose in a bowl so gamble, gutsy. Brooks went back to an old Mumme playbook. Surprised those are still around.

Posted by CATTRACKER (Member # 55) on 12-29-2006, 01:31 PM:

STTTTTrike.....for a TD.

That's the way, CATS! Go downtown with your offense. Stop the sluggishness and reliance on screens and short runs. SHAKE 'EM UP! Great play.

WE CAN DO IT!

Posted by Tiptree (Member # 844) on 12-29-2006, 01:36 PM:

Man, I wish we had a pass rush like Clemson's!

Posted by Tiptree (Member # 844) on 12-29-2006, 01:40 PM:

Calm down, Woodson. That's the second near-interception you've thrown.

Time for a last-second field goal attempt!

Posted by TampaKat (Member # 2109) on 12-29-2006, 01:44 PM:

Anyone else notice how little respect we get from the announcers? I mean they said we shouldn't be overlooked etc. But the talent level comment to start the game etc., they think we suck, I don't think so, its exciting to be a UK Football fan today, win or lose way to represent cats!

Posted by Tiptree (Member # 844) on 12-29-2006, 01:47 PM:

Halftime. Kentucky leads Clemson 14-6.

Like Brooks said, we have to put some shoulder pads on their pass-rushers. Give Woodson two or three more seconds in the pocket and we will take off offensively.

Our run defense has been sporadic, but on the balance surprisingly effective. In fact, our defense has been vastly improved compared to some of our other games. So far, their QB hasn't deserved any special treatment. Keep keying on their running game, and I think we can win this thing!

Tampa,

The announcers have been hinting at UK's inferiority all game long, but Lou Holtz came out and said that Clemson is the "superior football team". My earlier post would indicate that I agree for the most part, but in this game, on this day, UK looks good enough to win.

Hey, it isn't like UK hasn't earned some disrespect by our past performances on the field. But, things are definitely looking up, and a victory today will keep the momentum going!

Adams, #93, will play on Sundays and play well. It looks like Cats hold him on every play. Hopefully this is one of those games where skill and cunning win out over talent.

We need WIDER goal posts! [Roll Eyes]

Can you recall a Division IA game with worse kicking?

Posted by TampaKat (Member # 2109) on 12-29-2006, 01:55 PM:

They have more talent that is evident, but I think we have the IT factor today, that being this is our Bowl we are destined to win, I took us straight up today with a guy who owes me, the spread is 11 I said I dont need points we are going to win, lets hope I am correct [Wink]

Admire your courage, TK, but don't ask to pick any stocks for me.

We've been damn lucky so far that Clemson has not taken advantage of great field position for most of the first half. We will not get away with that for another half. So the o-line and punter better step up and help UK maintain field position. 26-yd punts, blocked punts, sacked QB's, etc will not get it the 2nd half!
Our 'D' has been decent, but got some breaks from Clemson's kicker. If we can get our offense in gear, we stand a good chance to win this one.

We have IT today! You cant beat IT!

Dicky Lyons Jr.

Need I say more? [Big Grin]

Posted by Tiptree (Member # 844) on 12-29-2006, 02:26 PM:

Did you see Wesley Woodyard jawing at the Clemson running back?

Heh.

Maybe we DO have IT.

Posted by CATTRACKER (Member # 55) on 12-29-2006, 02:45 PM:

Possessions are crucial now. UK needs to keep the ball out of Clemson's hands..and burn clock the rest of the game....keep our turnovers and penalties down to a minimum...and TAKE THIS GAME! We can't have Clemson making big plays at this point.

Posted by TampaKat (Member # 2109) on 12-29-2006, 02:46 PM:

Is there a rule of no late hits today? There have been like 5 for both teams no calls! WTF!

Posted by CATTRACKER (Member # 55) on 12-29-2006, 02:48 PM:

1/4 to go. Just one

SURELY the Cats can keep them from scoring 16 points to our nil! Surely. [Eek!]

Touchdown KENTUCKY!

28-6 with 11 1/2 minutes to go.

Tamme was WIDE OPEN in the endzone. Like I said, give Woodson a couple of more seconds, and great things happen! His presence in the pocket is truly amazing -- he had to duck under a couple of rushers, side-step another, and spotted Tamme for the TD.

Great play by Woodson.

Sure would like to celebrate with you guys but I remember too many strange things. I think I'll wait awhile.

Time for the Defense to maintain the margin. It looks like Clemson's offense has started to click. We don't want to let up on these guys!

Three straight pass completions, and a run by Proctor for a first down. Time to stiffen up!

Aaargh! Prophet, I think your reminder may have brought back the ghosts of football past!

Clemson pulls out a TD on 4th and goal from the 8 yard line.

Now, we are going to have to get back some points!

The 18 yard line, what was the one defensive guy doing who didn't rush its 4-18 not 4-4 bad defensive play there, but the sack was sweet!

No 2-point conversion, tho. Still a 16 point lead...but I'm a little nervous for some reason. You guys are giving me the {{{{jitters}}}}. Stop it!

Ghosts have disappeared.

Prophet,

I hope you appreciate the effort it took reverse the mojo for UK -- Clemson just scored again, and made the 2-point conversion. But to no avail -- 44 seconds to go, UK covered the on-side kick.

BTW, how did the clock remain at 44 seconds? It was at 44 before Clemson ran their conversion attempt. Does the clock not run during conversion attempts?

HOW BOUT DEM CATS!!!!

IT!

Posted by CATTRACKER (Member # 55) on 12-29-2006, 03:40 PM:

I don't think the clock runs during extra point attempts, Tip. Even the 2 pt. conversion attempts.

Mute point now, tho. [Wink]

Is Stacy going to do a pole dance at the goal posts? That's the question now. [Eek!]

No, clock does not run during EP attempt. What a courageous victory. A tribute to lots of folks: players, coaches and fans! Shows what all-out commitment can accomplish. It makes the time between now and September a happy, joyful and optimistic period.
