Archer flew to Raleigh on Wednesday to interview with new N.C. State coach Tom O'Brien and returned to Lexington yesterday. Archer and O'Brien, who left Boston College to take over for the departed Chuck Amato, were on the same staff at the University of Virginia from 1991-92 and have maintained a friendship, Neely said. Neely added that O'Brien approached Archer about the position.

Now why would a man make a lateral move for the same job that he currently holds at his present school? Are we going to offer him ALOT more money than he is currently making? At this point the only move a man like that is going ot make is to the HEad Coaches job!

Impressive resume, cmd, thanks. My question is similar to mh, but the same could apply to Archer. Sometimes a person just wants a scenery change plus his KY ties might be a factor. I'm totally ambivalent on Archer.

He could be offered a lot of money and possibly be promised to be the heir-apparent to Brooks when he leaves. It is unlikely though.

BCM, I can see what you mean about promising him the head job when Brooks steps down!

Foster might want a change of scenery..you never know..you have to ask though..he might like to be the head coach here someday..you never know..what better way to get that job, than by being here...it would show the world we are serious about football if we hire bud...do it mitch and rich,if archer leaves...just do it...number one defense in the country this season...WOW...

Bluecollar, what you posted is not as far fetched as many think..If archer stays, all this is moot, but lets just see how this plays out..
