I had some time so i googled Shomari and found some interesting facts about him. He was a red-shirt freshman last year and was Named Freshman All-SEC by the league coaches. He appeared in all 11 games. He drew two starting assignments ... Totaled 24 tackles, including a high of six stops vs. Florida ... Got his first collegiate interception in the win over Idaho State ... Broke up three passes and recovered a fumble during the season ..
In high school he was a three-year starter in basketball, helping lead his team to the Group III state championship his junior year … Also a second-team All-South Jersey pick in hoops … Overall athletic and academic ability is shown by the fact that he was named the 2004 Olympic Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year … Honor roll student and a member of the student government … Shomari chose UK over Memphis, Iowa, Minnesota, and Purdue.
He was born in Camden, N. J. … Son of Anna Moore … A cousin, Dajuan Wagner, played for the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers … Another cousin, Arthur Barclay, played basketball for the University of Memphis. He also participated in service events at the UK Children’s Hospital and with Special Olympics (2004).
I thought it interesting to see he is so well rounded with sports academics and even has time to help with the Special Olympics. It's good to see our athletes are more than just athletes. Shomari Moore
