It had been the shortest postgame news conference of Rich Brooks' season, and as the last call for questions came and went, the University of Kentucky's football coach shook his head and flashed a grin.
"Pretty mundane, huh?" Brooks said. "You guys have been 5-0 a lot around here, I guess."
It only seemed that way yesterday after No. 14 UK dispatched Florida Atlantic 45-17 in front of 65,927 fans at Commonwealth Stadium.
Though it marked the Wildcats' first 5-0 start since 1984, the win was efficient enough -- and secured early enough -- that most of the postgame chatter focused not on UK's fifth win, but on its sixth game, a Thursday night Southeastern Conference tilt at South Carolina.
"It's a big deal, but we're not just trying to be 5-0," defensive end Dominic Lewis said. "We're trying to win out. Our main goal is to get to the SEC (Championship Game), win that and go from there."
That goal remains in the distant future. Yesterday, the Cats were quick to put the Owls (3-2) into the past.
Andre' Woodson saw his NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision record of 325 straight passes without an interception snapped, but UK's quarterback completed 26 of 33 passes for 301 yards and a career-high five touchdowns as the Cats built an early lead and cruised to their 10th win in 11 games.
