I just read where "The Rock" gave $1 million to better the football facilities for his old school team, the Miami Hurricanes.

What surprised me was that this is the largest gift ever from a former U athlete. That kind of surprises me when you hear all the NFL players that are proud of coming from "the U" during player introductions.

It surprises me as well, you'd think Michael Irvin, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Andre Johnson, etc could pony up a little more for da U.

Miami has 46 players in the NFL. Most of any school.

I really like Dwayne Johnson. Did he ever actually play pro-ball or was he just a wrestler?

He is really turning into a pretty good and funny actor. He is going to be in the re-make film of "Get Smart" which should be funny and evidently he is in talks to play Captain Marvel in "Shazam!"

I don't think he played in the NFL, He did start for Miami I think when they were very good, he is a funny guy, I am a fan as well. I would think its pretty hard to go from Pro Wrestler to successful Actor and he has done it!!!!!!!!

BCM, Viperz, P.M. me I got a funny story.

Because of the stigma put on wrestlers as dumb jocks, I agree with your assessment Prophet but when casting for a role you think a director would want an actor with a theatre background or the "ROCK" I knew the guy was squared away you could tell by the way he conducted himslef he also didn't wrestle very long, You think the Mach Man Randy Savage could be in a Disney Movie? He can Snap into a Slim Jim!

No, he never played Pro Football. He had some sort of injury and did not go to the next level.

Not sure how much of the wrestling history about Dwayne you all know so I will let you in on a little. Dwayne Johnson's Dad was a pro wrestler named Rocky Johnson. He also part Samoan as his grandfather was High Chief Peter Miavia who was also a wrestler in the early days of the WWF (believe it was called the WWWF (world wide wrestling federation)) when Miavia was there.

After college Dwayne decided to go in to pro wrestling and was put in to contact with Jerry Lawler, the at the time promoter for the now defunct USWA where he wrestled under the name Flex Cavana. He then moved up to the WWF (now WWE) where he took the name Rocky Miavia. After several years in the WWE you could tell that his mic skills far out shined his wrestling ability.

I disagree with this statement. I have spent 12 years in pro wrestling and have some injuries from it. I have been trained in submission holds (many of which you see in MMA) and with many of the moves, if both parties do not know what they are doing someone will get injured. Pro wrestlers are as much athletes as any football, basketball, soccer ..... player. Is there acting involved, yes. And the mic skills required for the WWE are very important which is why several wrestlers have been in movies.
