I know this one wasn't what you guys wanted but it was a really good game. That stadium was as loud as I heard it in a few years so your guys were definately at a dissadvantage. Was once again very impressed by Rafeal Little, I really wish he would have come here. [Wink]

Anyway the fans I met were pretty cool level headed people. I know many didn't see that coming but Eric Norwood who probably has a shot at All SEC as a sophmore did a lot more than return those fumbles, he has really stepped up as a leader for us since Brinkley went down. Anyway enjoyed having coming to visit again this year and I'll be back from time to time. Good Luck

Our offense let us down with a little help from the USC defense. Holding USC to 35 pts was good enough from the defense, but we just did not score.

Offense actually played very well if you take away 3 plays (two TD returns and redzone INT). On a play by play basis, we dominated the line and moved the ball at will.

To me, the biggest play nobody is talking about is the punt return fumble. We had just marched down the field on a long drive and kicked a FG and were gonna get the ball at about the 50.

The point is you can play very well in game, but turnovers are going to kill you. This was Woodson's worst game in a while. I hope he has short term memory.

As a result of those 3 plays the offense did not play very well. IF, UK had scored 17 point on those three drives, UK wins. BUT, the offense let us down and thus we did not win.

PS-they don't keep score on a play-by-play basis, nor do they keep score based on total yards, only points scored.

We lose because of our own mistakes, some of which were caused by the USC D.

yeah, I understand how scoring works. I just feel better about a team that obviously had a powerful offense and made 3 mistakes than an offense that rarely saw the good side of the 50. There's a lot of good things to take from this game, even though it was at times hard to watch.

The kicking game looked a lot better than any previous games. Masthay looks like he is for real..I thought our kick coverage looked real good also...

The announcers brought it up a couple of times that Woodson had the chance for some nice running plays. I'd noticed this before myself and think that if he'd tuck tail and run every now and then that he'd be much more effective. Wonder if he's been told not to run.

Speaking of the announcers, the lead guy was a dope. He got our RBs wrong at least a dozen times and often went the wrong direction when declaring the spot on the field. For instance, on one kickoff, we fielded the ball inside the 20 and he said we got it at the 27, when it was actually the 17. Then another time he said we got tackled just inside the 20, when we were actually just outside the 20. It's like he didnt understand the way the numbers run.

IMO, we lost that game due to Woodson playing like his head was not in the game. The defense did exactly what it needed to do. The offensive line is still not blocking as well as they could so that also hurt. But even with all that, Woodsen was off target all night long. Most of his passes, the deep ones, were way over thrown.

I just feel like something was going on with Woodson last night and it was distracting him.

That's easy. It was the USC Defensive line which our offensive line could not handle most of the game, that plus Andre must have some instructions not to run, because there were times he could have made big chunks of yardage, but elected not to do so.

I will be glad when this team gets to the point that it has the number of athletes at every position who also have the athletic smarts to run a more complicated and devious offense. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about our athletes, but I feel like we are somewhat limited in what we can do or run for a full game because we do not have the numbers of quality athletes, at all positions needed, (some positions we have the numbers, but not all) to sustain the level of play required to stay that high in the rankings.

By devious, I do not mean trick plays, but I think Coach Phillips needs to look at some new and different pass routes because I am afraid we are becoming predictable.

Finally, I would like, to see some pass plays run for Derrick Locke to get him the ball in the open field and see what his speed and quickness can do.

I agree Bayer, the USC Defense was pretty dog gone good. They made some very good open field tackles, and on mqny running playd I though Little was going to get more yardage than he did, they closed the holes pretty quick. Woodson was not on top of his game, but he didnt have much time to go down field. lets just hope they do some work and make some correction in the O line, before next week.

YOu can't really even say that those 17 points would have been the difference b/c if you want to take away the UK turnovers then I will take away our fumble on our 1st drive and that gives us 7 more and we still win. You can't have it both ways.
