Defensive end Jeremy Jarmon and tailback Derrick Locke have been chosen as game captains for Saturday’s contest vs. LSU, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.

Just wondering on "Game Captains":

How rare is it to have a freshman, non-starter as a game captain?

Is the naming of Locke a motivational gambit by Coach Brooks?

I don't think it is as rare to have a freshman as a captain as it is to have a non-starter. I can't remember a non-starter in any spot that has been made a team captain.

I tell you what Locke has impressed the hell out of me. If my opinion is worth anything to anyone Locke gets my vote as well. So does John Conner.

Sounds like Little is ailing enough not to start, hence elevating Locke to the starting spot and the honor of game captain.
