Was it just my inner fan seeing things, or did this UK team seem to be hitting extremely hard last night? Other than mentally, this team seems to have become one physical bunch of guys.
I am certainly not diminishing some of the LSU hits, because there were some vicious hits by them as well (especially what appeared to be a punch by one of the D linemen from LSU on Andre' which resulted in a roughing the passer call), but this bunch of Cats doesn't just stand around and take it any more. They dish it out as well.

I agree, bayer, and pointed it out to the folks (not UK fans, not LSU either) watching with me. In the discussion the question arose: Does physicality come with confidence or the other way around? Either way much credit goes to Coach Brooks and staff.

This could be the hardest hitting UK team I can remember. Did anyone see the hit Dickie Lyons laid on Steltz, on the catch and run from Johnson. Then on the ensuing kickoff, Moncell Allen hit a tight end and laid him out cold, the guy was not mocing after he hit him. This team can lay some lumber, I cant wit to lay some on the Gators next week.

Was it just the difference between post-winning and post-losing that my sense is they hit harder against LSU than USC?

prophet,
They hit harder in the LSU game, and they hit quicker. Our defense seemed too tentative against USC for whatever reason. They came out to put some pads on people against LSU.
If we can bottle this type of effort and sip it for the rest of the season, great things might just happen!

I keep thinking that a lot of what UK did was revenge for LSU coming on the field while the band was playing My Old Kentucky Home. Totally classless IMO.
