The news of a potential $2.5 million contract for Bobby Bowden and a $200,000 raise for Jimbo Fisher, right on the heels of news that T.K. Wetherell is among the highest-paid public university presidents in the country, is another slap in the face to FSU students, faculty, and staff. So while Bowden gets a $600,000 raise, Fisher gets a $200,000 raise, and Wetherell enjoys a "top 10 in the nation" salary, FSU's ranking remains stagnant, and the faculty and staff who have exceeded the university's goals for graduate student recruitment, produced numerous books, articles and creative projects, and brought in millions of dollars in grants (recent statistics show that the amount the FSU faculty brings into the state in grants for their work exceeds the total amount of FSU faculty salaries) are rewarded with an insulting "bonus."

Interesting piece and it comes from Tallahasse as well. Two questions come to mind:
1) Could a similar article apply to other universities?
2) What is the revenue to FSU from FB program?

Not sure where FSU falls, but here are the top 5 rankings for the most revenue and most profits for the 2006 football season:
Top College Football Revenues Texas $60.9 million Ohio State $60.8 million Georgia $58.7 million Michigan $50.4 million Florida $48.2 million
Top College Football Profits Georgia $44.1 million Texas $42.5 million Michigan $37.6 million Florida $32.4 million Ohio State $28.5 million
You would have to guess that FSU football would surpass $20 million in profit despite the coaching salaries.

Interesting and surprising numbers, ACF, thanks. Translating those to % profit is downright astounding:
Geogia: 75.1% Michigan: 74.6% Texas: 69.8% Florida: 67.2% Ohio State: 46.9%
Bill Willis' job might be in jeopardy in Columbus.
