SEC now 4-0 in bowls with UT leading (have a hard time rooting for them but I'm managing) but Hogs look inept against what is actually a better team, Missouri. Tigers, Gators and Dogs still to come.

Looks like Hawgs will be the first loss for the SEC!!

They should have some excuses too. But I bet the announcers didn't make excuses for them all day like they did for FSU last night!!

Gators are down 6 with less than 2 minutes left inthe game. They have their backs against the wall! 4 and 10! IT doesn't look good!

Pretty disappointed Norm, more in the UF D than Tebow even though he was just good today not phenomenal IMO! [Wink] Got my UK sweartshirt on as I head over to the inlaws for Pizza, been a great bowl day, UF game was great even though I was shocked Michigan won, last night Auburn game was great, watching the Illinois USC game right now, and really hope Georgia destroys Hawaii tonight!

As far a Tebow goes Michigan rushed and rushed him all day they brought it all day long, much like Georgia made him do, he is a good QB but a tougher runner and you take away his scramble ability you can beat them, especially if their defense allows over 500 yards of offense! [Eek!]

Timothy Tebow is looking much better than when he started the season. He's still a little quick on the trigger to take off with the ball sometimes but he's very much improved. Next season will be an interesting one in the Urban has hinted at using two QB's to take some of the pressure off of Timothy.

At this point and at every point during the season and every season, the SEC is always #1.

The Bowls are all about matchups. I don't really think you can judge who is the best by the won-loss record. The only way that it would work is if the #1 from SEC played the #1 from the Big 10 etc.

For instance, Missouri finished second in the Big 12 and they played and destroyed the team that finished 6th or 7th in the SEC. Missouri was suppose to win and they did.

The Michigan win is pretty impressive in my mind for the Big 10. The second or third best team in the Big 10 beat the second, third, or fourth (I'm not sure how you separate Florida, UT, and UGA) best team from the SEC. If not for the 4 Michigan turnovers Florida and the SEC would have been humilated.

I think the SEC and Big 10 are a lot closer this year than people want to realize. The UT and Wisconsin game was another matchup that was close as far as conference standings and that game went to the wire as well.

The OSU vs. LSU game will be closer than some think IMO. I hope not. I hope that LSU blows their doors off, but I'm not counting on it.

The two best teams I saw play all year were Oklahoma (when their Freshman QB was playing) and Missouri.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

I see 3 teams in the Big 10 that were worth their salt and 1 team that wasn't but is going to play for a National Championship anyway.

Everyone of the SEC teams earned their stripes this season.

I think the National Championship game will be close for a half and then LSU pounds OSU in the second half.

I disagree. The Big 10 had some better squads than people have realized.

OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Penn State, Michigan State, Purdue, and even perennial lowly IU had decent squads this year.

Minnesota was downright aweful (worse than Ole Miss). Iowa and Northwestern would be on par with Vanderbilt and Mississippi State IMO.

We will find out on Monday. We already know for sure that four teams are pretty close (Florida vs. Michigan and Tennessee vs. Wisconsin). The Rose Bowl did the Big 10 no favors by selecting Illinois to play a powerhouse in USC (kind of like the Cotton did the SEC by using Arkansas as the sacrificial lamb to Missouri). I think UK and Missouri would have been a much better match up in that game, but I know the bowls are all about the money.

I can't stand the Big 10, but I think they were better this year than the national media gave them credit for being.

I agree Tb, which scares the fire out of me, you thought the UF team of the last two years was lucky and not that good, and picked the NY Giants last year to come out of the NFC, and I agree [Big Grin] with the Big Ten assessment, Viperz just stated Tebow was aweful I love ya Viperz but thats crazy talk bro! That game was about no defense and no offensive line not Tebow being terrible he and Harvin are great college football players....

TB IMO is right I am afraid that OSU might even beat LSU, Herbstreit the azzclown of the big ten was giddy Michigan won he was like that proves to SEC doesn't beat the Big Ten in speed......

Until and only if OSU wins the last N.C. from football was in the SEC and last N.C. in basketball was two times in a row from the SEC, so until OSU wins which they might, the SEC is dominating the two major sports of college!

Never said UF wasn't that good during their run. I said during their first National Championship they had an unreal easy path to the Final Game. Still stand by that. That first year I even stated real early that I thought they were the best team. I remember SCWC and I starting a topic on TCD about it.

I didn't think they would win last year because of the pressure to repeat and I thought there were about 6 teams that were capable of beating them. I give them credit because they played like Champions most of the entire season.

The Giants. Well if they would have fed Tiki the ball you never know what might have happened. The NFC was aweful last year. It was real easy to pick an underdog. [Wink] [Wink] [Wink]

Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan are the teams that I thought defined the Big 10. Illinois moreso than the others. They are getting their butt handed to them in the Rose Bowl but that squad defined what is great about college football.

Ohio State is a paper tiger until they prove otherwise. I am very not impressed with the Buckeyes.

Purdue, Michigan State, Indiana, Northwestern are all about the caliber of Vandy...fair enough...I can agree with that.

Minnesota is horrid. All that needs to be said about them.

Penn State and Iowa are up and down. Iowa was a better team than their record indicated. Kind of like several past UK teams. Penn State is typical Penn State but they need a breath of fresh air in the program.

The big ten is a solid conference this season, no doubt about it. But I'd bet all the money in my pockets that if you took each team in the big ten and played them against the SEC in the order in which they finished in the conferences (#1 plays #1. #2 plays #2 etc)the SEC would win at least 9 of those games and probably more.

Georgia is killing Hawaii which probably isn't anything earth shaking. It is obvious however that the SEC is the deepest conferance in the country with so many teams playing in bowls and winning. Kentucky, Mississippi State, Auburn, Tennesee, Alabama and Georgia have already won and LSU is playing for the national championship. The big 12 has 8 teams where the SEC has 9 in bowl games and their record is not near as good as the SEC.

SEC 6-2 and Big 12 3-4 going into the national championship game..

17-of-33 for 154 yards, in this game Timmy was pretty bad. Harvin is a great player.

You can never underestimate what the lack of respect can do for a team like Michigan. They wanted it more much like Florida last year in the national title game. You may want to consider that in this years national title game.

cmd,

The Big 12 is not 3-4. Texas (#4 in the Big 12, pounded the #2 in the PAC-10), Missouri trounced Arkansas, Texas Tech beat Virgina, Oklahoma State beat IU. That is 4 wins that I know with Oklahoma to play tonight and Kansas yet to play as well.

I know Bama beat Colorado, Pen State beat Texas A&M.

So I think the Big 12 is more like 4-2 with two BCS bowls to play and the Texas and Texas Tech wins are two of the more impressive wins, along with Michigan, that I have seen this year. Impressive by the fact that none of those teams were suppose to win.

USC and Georgia were impressive but I think most people expected those games to be blowouts. If the Rose Bowl would have picked the best matchup, instead of tradition, we could have seen a really good bowl game.

All the talk on ESPN Radio this morning is how the Rose Bowl blew it by not picking UGA v. USC since they had the second pick after the National Championship game.

Since I started these comments, I still believe SEC is best conference top to bottom. As for individual games:

Missouri was and is obviously better than Hogs but a couple of important factors impacted outcome. Tigers were more motivated because they were shafted by BCS and Hogs were without Nutt.

Had Michigan played their traditional style (the one they used vs. OSU) Gators would have won but the opening up of offense, I think, surprised UF, and is a hint of things to come under Rodgriguez -- I see a NC in Wolverines' near future. UF's defense was a question mark going into season and is one at the end. Question for Gator fans is: Will Urban Meyer ever have an outstanding defense?

Georgia and USC proved a FB axiom: the team with more and better athletes usually win over any system no matter how contrived. And, IMO, both Dogs and Trojans are better than LSU and OSU -- OU , I'm not so sure.

How does UK fit into the discussion? Speed and quickness, especially on defense, is the area most in need of improvement. Many more and better athletes before Cats can become a top-tier (third-tier now IMO) team, but with back-to-back bowl wins and 8-5 seasons, who can complain?

So-called NC game: OSU over LSU, OSU D is better than overrated LSU, and OSU has better QB.

Take the Big 12 out now. I would have never thought that Oklahoma would get spanked by WVU. I didn't watch but to win 48-28 must have been pretty damn impressive.

If USC & UGA had played, the winner would have had a very good shot to produce a split championship if LSU and Ohio State looked rusty.

The WVU defense looked like they knew every play OU was going to run and where they were going to run it in the first half. Didn't see the second half.
