When will the mancrush end? This guy is a TERRIBLE quarterback as Michigan showed today. Take away the run and he can't read a defense to save his life.

How many guys have won the Heisman and lost 4 games in the same year? Ridiculous.

viperz, i have to disagree with you.
I thought he played a good game. Heck, he had no time whatsoever to throw the ball today and ended up on his back 90% of the time. And still gave his team a chance to win.
Another problem is they do not run a conventional offense with a RB in the backfield. So he has to hope his line picks up the blitz and they have no Rb to run a screen.

The defensive front of michigan totally destroyed the florida front five.
That was the difference in the game.

I thought he played a good game.

17-of-33 for 154 yards, ran for 54 more....I wasn't impressed. When he needed to get the job done as a quarterback (in the last two drives) he was horrible.

I looked to me that Florida OL couldn't deal with the speed of the Big Ten. [Wink]
Actually if Meyer plans on going to a second QB to take pressure off of Tebow, what does that say? He's unpolished as a passer and has alot of difficulty making the correct reads all the time under pressure.Tebow will be getting blitzed all the time from now on.

Timmy T didn't lose the fourth game any more than he lost the first three. That dishonor goes to Florida defense -- a question mark coming in, one going out.

I really like Tebow as a football player. I don't remember seeing anybody this year that I thought was a better college quarterback. I doubt he will be a very successful pro quarterback though because he relies too much on his power running ability which will cause too many injuries.

I think Tebow is an outstanding college football player.

As far as whether he is pure passer, that isn't the case yet.

After the Heisman ceremony, Hawaii's QB Colt Brennan reported the following exchange to the press which is somewhat illustrative of Tebow's development as a passer:

quote:
When Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow attended the Heisman Trophy presentation earlier this month, Tebow offered Brennan some advice on facing the Bulldogs.

"He said that's probably the best defense he played all year," Brennan said. "He said, 'Just get rid of (the football) because they are coming.' "

Tebow was sacked six times when Georgia beat the Gators 42-30 in October. What Tebow and Brennan didn't talk much about was the passing game, Brennan said.

"Me and him could not relate on anything we talked about," Brennan said. "All he talked about were (defensive) fronts and linebackers, and I'm like, 'Dude, I throw the ball.'

"I'm like, 'Where's the safety at?' and he's like, 'I don't pay attention to that,' and I'm like, 'Well, how are you making these reads then?' It was different."

He had two chances to direct a game winning drive at the end and couldn't get it done....that's all I'm saying. A touchdown in either drive would have won the game regardless of how badly the defense played.

I agree with Viperz on the 2 opportunities to conduct a 4th quarter touchdown drive by Tebow.

I actually expected him to do it. He sure didn't coem through. Trying to go long when the short play will win more games, more often then the long play will. He had just under 4 minutes, once in order to do it so it's not like he would have to rush!

He lead them to 5 TD's and 35 points; that should be enough to win a BCS game, especially against Michigan and the Big 10(11).

He had 154 yards passing. That isn't alot!!

Henne had 373 yards!

Timothy was an average QB in that game. Like many Heisman winners before him, the bowl game after winning the trophy was something of a disappointment.

Timothy is developing his QB skills as he is a much better decision maker now than he was at the start of the season. I'm still not impressed with his ability as a QB though. Put him against a good defensive line (like Michigan for example) and he tends to get a quick trigger finger.

He's a great athlete and a very good football player, just not at the position he's playing...yet. I still think there are a handful of other players that are better QB's than Tebow.
