Not just charged. He pled guilty and entered a diversion program.

I guess this settles the "who will be the quarterback this coming year" question. Looks like Mike Hartline will get it by default.

My other thought is "How stupid can a young man be?" UK has a zero tolerance policy for such matters. Pulley has just blown his career to smithereenes.

More on Pulley from LHL. In addition to marijuana possesion recently cited for driving with suspended, expired tags. Why is it some just can't seem to rise above their own low standards?

Here is a reply from mr. pulley.MY name is Curtis Pulley Sr., the father of Curtis Pulley. I was formerly known by the nickname pullpull on this board. I come on this board to set some things right that many of you on here don't even know other than what you've seen or heard on TV. Curtis was cited for possession of a drug last month in Louisville. I have spoken to my son and was told by him that he was in a car with some guys that had drugs on them without his knowledge. The TV station WLEX has made statements about the arrest which are untrue and we can prove the charges are false. As far as driving under suspension, Curtis has a valid KY DL which if the TV station would have taken time they could have verified it. I know many of you posters are making comments without all the facts and some of you might not even like my son but that does not excuse him from making a bad decision. Also, the tags on the car had not expired because it was my car that he was driving. With this accident, I would like to know, do the posters only care about Curtis the football player or Curtis the person. I have spoken with Joker on this matter and he and Coach have the facts. For you fans that have supported Curtis, the Pulley family says thank you and continue to support our son. I believe my son when he looks me in the eye and tell me that he had no drugs. WLEX has really gone out of the way to paint my son as a drug dealer and I just hope when the truth comes out they will make an on the apology to my son and family. Thanks very much and BELIEVE IN BLUE and BELIEVE IN CURTIS

This information is very much a shame. It is a shame that even though our country has a right to free speach they don't have to always speak the truth on all subjects that they decide to write about.

SOme organizations see nothign wrong with dragging anothers name through the mud and possibly damaging a persons reputation for many years to come.

Good luck to Curtis and I know it takes a strong person to rise above all of this! I hope you are one of those strong people!!

Brings to my mind a few considerations:

One, topcat, where was that statement made and to whom? NOTE: I now know answer: The comment was posted on kentucky.rivals.com/TCP/Wildcat Lair by SCcat15 identifying himself as Mr. Pulley

Two, I would be more impressed had the senior Pulley addressed the fact that Coach Brooks had to hear about the problem from the media instead of directly from the player (perhaps the most damning portion of the incident).

Three, pardon me if I'm skeptical of the senior Pulley speaking as a protective and loyal parent.

Four, while agreeing with the concept of innoncent until proven guilty, the defense/excuse that "the drugs were in possession of someone else in the vehicle" ranks right up there with "I didn't know there was a weapon in my luggage". Point is player Pulley is a victim of his individual history of personal irresponsibility and thus doesn't automatically receive the benefit of doubt.

Five, leadership by definition requires accepting responsibility and good decision making skills. Player Pulley hasn't demonstrated possessing either. On the surface he appears to be just a less-talented Ryan Perriloux.

Six, having said all that, I hope it's all as the senior Pulley states and is just a terrible misunderstanding. Even if that's the case Coach Brooks faces a difficult decision.

More on Pulley

This report in C-J including:

quote:
Pulley "threw down the marijuana" when the detective identified himself, and the detective found additional marijuana -- for a total of 2.4 grams -- in the vehicle, according to the report.

Which seems to contradict the senior Pulley's statement.

According to the TCP/kentucky.rivals post, the poster used the name "pullpull" previously.

More from mr. Pulley!First of all, I have no reason to get on this message board and lie about who I am. Yes, I'm really Curtis Pulley father and would have no problem of proving it. I have spent the last 24 to 48 hrs. trying to get all the information i could get concerning Curtis situation. First of all, Curtis was never arrrested, never handcuffed, taken to the police station or fingerprinted. The police officer gave him a citation, he was never, never taken to jail. Also, Curtis was not driving his(my car) when the situation accured. I'm not a lawyer, so I'm hoping UK Law82 will post on here and fill me in on the legal aspects of the difference between been arrested and given a citation. I have questions for anyone with legal knowledge cocening this matter. Curtis stated to me that the officer checked the car and find drugs, gave him a citation and sent him on his way. My question is, why wasn't he arrested then, why did this become public since the charge occured on June 12th. I have plenty of questions that I want and need answers to. As far as some UK fans bashing my son with insults and name calling, remember no one is perfect and everyone will or has made mistakes in their lives. For those fans who has shown and continue to support my son the Pulley family says thank you for your support during this trying time for my son. I have heard the media and TV stations in Louisville has really been bashing my son, but I wouldn't expect anything different. In closing, I really would like to get some legal advice from any real UK fan on this matter. Again, thank everyone who has shown support and I will keep you updated on this matter. BELIEVE IN BLUE.

The Courier-Journal story stated that on both occassions Curtis Pulley was "arrested". It seems odd that they would purposely or erroneously report that. If it weren't true, they would have to print a retraction to deflect a libel suit. I've not seen that retraction.
