First TD given up by D and it was against a 3-man front. Inauspicious beginning.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 06:29 PM:
Coach said they were going through the motions in practice. MAybe they were.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 06:29 PM:
Offense is gonna have to move the ball!!
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 06:33 PM:
Game is blacked out on 360, so it's just radio for me.
We need to stop this "Randall Cobb at WR" crap, Dick Gabriel just said he got his ankle twisted. We need him healthy as possible. We need him at QB, damn you Brooks!!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 06:35 PM:
What's happened to Cobb? I see them tending to him on the sidelines!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 06:36 PM:
They must just black it out in teh state of KY! Cause I'm getting it live!
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 06:37 PM:
Yeah, it's blacked out local, on tape delay tonight (except in Lexington).
Dixon fell into Cobb as he blocked for him, rolled Cobb's ankle.
We REALLY needed that fumble recovery!!! That'll get the crowd back into it!
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 06:39 PM:
First TD pass for Hartline. Big play D.
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 06:42 PM:
Cobb is done for the half, they will reevaluate him at halftime.
I'm really growing tired of this "let's get our best playmaker QB out there at WR" stuff, he's gotten hurt BLOCKING for someone and now if Hartline goes down....we have Matt Lentz, who has no meaningful game experience. Way to go, Joker/Brooks!
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 06:45 PM:
and David Jones' knee just buckled....great.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 06:56 PM:
Hartline is looking a little more comfortable in the pocket today!!
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 06:57 PM:
Still no continuity, rhythm on offense, hasn't been there all season.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:07 PM:
Defense is really being challenged by this spread offense. Craddock looks good at QB for MTSU.
Micah Johnson is a MAN!! He's been all over the field tonight!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:07 PM:
You're right, Prophet. HArtline can't seem to get into any kind of rythm. It'll happen.
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 07:11 PM:
OL is coming off ball better and TE open in middle all night.
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 07:15 PM:
Another receiver error, Hartline getting no help.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:19 PM:
They don't look too bad until they the red zone and then they fizzle out a little bit!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:22 PM:
The tight ends have been making all of the plays for HArtline so far tongiht.
Sometimes it seems like Lyons is dancing around out there after he catches the football rather than advancing it!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:27 PM:
Sure seems like we are racking up alot of injuries in this game tonight!
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 07:39 PM:
They keep cut-blocking our defensive guys!
Micah's got a high ankle sprain....we CANNOT lose him!!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:39 PM:
Jones, Cobb, Lumpkin, and now Micah Johnson have left the game because of injuries!
Good thing we're getting a week off next week to heal a little bit!
Posted by bayer (Member # 462) on 09-13-2008, 07:40 PM:
I'm trying keep up with the game on Gamtracker. Did Cobb actually play in the first half? It didn't show up on Gametracker.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:40 PM:
I thought that cut block was against the rules, TO HELP PREVENT INJURIES!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 07:42 PM:
I'M NOT SURE IF HE WAS IN ON AN OFFENSIVE PLAY AS A RECIEVER AND WAS INJURED WHILE TRYING TO BLOCK DOWN FIELD FOR ANOTHER PLAYER OR IF HE WAS IN ON A SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY BLOCKING, AND GOT INJURED. cOBBS INJURY SEEMS LIKE AN ANKLE INJURY AS WELL!
(sorry about the caps)
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 07:44 PM:
Cobb was blocking on a run play, and Dixon fell into him as he went down, rolled up his leg.
Brooks/Joker should be kicked in the crotch for having him out there on a RUN PLAY!!! Nothing good could come from that!!!
We need Micah Johnson, or we will lose this game. He's gone a great job of spying and shutting down the run....
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 07:57 PM:
Thank goodness for the turnover, otherwise MTSU would be leading and statistics are pretty much even.
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 08:01 PM:
Hartline looks a lot more comfortable in pocket.
Posted by bayer (Member # 462) on 09-13-2008, 08:08 PM:
Get to the 11 yard line and then throw 3 straight passes What's up with that?
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 08:09 PM:
First and 10 from 11, one would think Cats could just power it in but OL still far from efficient. Quite disappointing in third game.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:14 PM:
Keep letting MTng around and they'll slip in there and beat you. We need to put this team away NOW!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:21 PM:
Nice!! REAL NICE!! WOW!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:22 PM:
Turnover leads to the score!! STUPID!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:27 PM:
We missed MIcah on that Tanner run!
Posted by bayer (Member # 462) on 09-13-2008, 08:39 PM:
So much for being a 16 pt favorite.
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 08:40 PM:
How pathetic! Win or lose, perhaps we can all get back to the reality of the situation and forget about challenging for the SEC, Top 25, etc.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:43 PM:
In the same breath, Prophet. You gotta admit that 2 big plays are all the defense have really given up. Our offense still can't get any rythm going!
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 08:44 PM:
This just shows how important it is to have playmakers at EVERY position to win games on a regular basis. Good as he's done recruiting, Brooks has not done a good job at getting the playmakers at WR or QB outside of Burton and Woodson....luckily we have two coming in at QB next year, but we still lack that gamebreaker at WR. Locke is one, but we can't spring him without the passing game....it's going to be a very long season.
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 08:47 PM:
And just as I speak, Lyons and Locke step up and MAKE PLAYS!!!
Touchdooooooooooooooown KENTUCKY!!!!!!!
C'mon defense, time to step it up!!! Finish them off!!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:50 PM:
Nice drive, Hartline!!
Come one Defense, we need another big series out of you!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:51 PM:
That catch by Lyons has got to make the ESPN highlight reel!!
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 08:52 PM:
And now JARMON is hurt!!!!
How does this team get away with so many cut blocks??? They HAVE to be chop-blocking if they cut-block this much!!!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 08:55 PM:
Nice stand Defense!!
Come on O lets puts some more points on teh board!
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 09:14 PM:
WOOOOOHOOOOO way to go Marcus!!!
Now let's punch it in, eat some clock, and PUT THEM AWAY!!!
Posted by bayer (Member # 462) on 09-13-2008, 09:19 PM:
And it's still going to come down to the Defense.
Posted by Ironrange (Member # 1244) on 09-13-2008, 09:26 PM:
What is the score and time???
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 09:28 PM:
Rich Brooks needs to go to the soccer complex tomorrow, and find a new kicker.
Lones Seiber is a freaking JOKE.
Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 09-13-2008, 09:31 PM:
And Seiber better buy Macatee WHATEVER HE WANTS....for saving his @@@ on that play.
If they'd gotten that into the endzone, Seiber would need to be in HIDING for the next two weeks.
WOW....I almost had a heart-attack on that one!!!
Survive and advance....3-0, probably a Pontiac Game-Changing performance play, and hopefully a ranking on Monday!
Posted by bayer (Member # 462) on 09-13-2008, 09:31 PM:
And the defense comes through.
Final
UK 20
MT 14
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 09:32 PM:
IMO that was a terrible call to attempt FG, a block is only chance for MTSU, just Hartline take the ball and sweep to run off time. So, so fortunate, not a deserved win. Ranking? None deserved.

WOO!! Did we dodge a big bullet there!
Tough win! NOw maybe the guys will listen to teh coach and remind them to not take any team too lightly!! WOW!!
Posted by GA Cat (Member # 642) on 09-13-2008, 09:34 PM:
Somebody needs to slap a coach for even attempting that last field goal, and that that tackle was great, no way a MTSU receiver should have been behind the defense. There should have been a Kentucky defender between him and the end zone. Seiber was not the only one that deserves some credit for making this game close. We should have ran the ball on that 4th down and put in the hands of our defense.

j2,
I know Seiber missed earlier FG's, but Seiber had nothing to do with the block. UK didn't even touch the guy coming off the end. He practically beat the snap back to the holder.
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 09:35 PM:
We don't deserve a ranking, what these boys do need is a good tongue lashing!
Defense stepped up again!!
Hartline is slowly getting better.
We need to include our tightends even more in our offensive scheme!
Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 09-13-2008, 09:35 PM:
Agreed, Trey. You've got to get a back back there to block that end!
Posted by GA Cat (Member # 642) on 09-13-2008, 09:37 PM:
Trey,
I think j2 is saying that if he had not missed the earlier make able field goals, then that hail mary would not have mattered. If they score on that play and we lose, then everybody would be looking at the earlier missed FG attempts.

GA Cat,
Maybe. But UK had the game put away despite those earlier misses. You could place blame on the kid who committed the penalty after Dixon's 9 yard run after UK took possession on the 17. Or the call to kick the FG, or the call to throw the ball with 3:20 to go instead of running it to make MTSU burn a time out then. ON and ON and ON.
Bottom line is UK is 3-0 and that is what counts.

It doesn't hurt to be humbled while at the same tiime winning the ball game!
Proves you aren't infallable, that you have to prepare for every game like it's for the national championship,
That you can't rest on your Laurels.
That every one you play has something to prove just like you!

Trey,
I agree with you fully. I was only saying thats that I think j2 was referring too, and it is probable that a lot of people would have blamed the loss on Seiber.
However, I just cannot believe we attempted the FG. I would have preferred to have turned it over on downs.
Posted by Trey Ball (Member # 332) on 09-13-2008, 10:22 PM:
GA Cat,
I agree. The FG should not have been attempted. I kept saying that during the timeout before the kick.
Posted by prophet (Member # 2089) on 09-13-2008, 10:39 PM:
Coach said in post game that he never wavered in attempting FG, that from that distance it was a "sure thing". Wonderful to have confidence but with Seiber -- especially in this game -- there is no sure thing. High snap, slow approach by kicker and a missed block = near catastrophe. So many small mistakes add up to inconsistency. Injuries to Cobb, Johnson and Lumpkin all high ankle strains and they don't look good. Bye comes at a very appropriate time.
