A good article written by Larry Vaught...Made sense to me..

"I was very concerned Saturday when I saw Randall Cobb go out on the field the first drive of the game (at wide receiver), and it proved to be a valid concern. Why would they put their No. 2 (or in some opinions No. 1) quarterback on the field in any other capacity than at quarterback?

If we have a strong No. 1 quarterback and a qualified No. 3 then I could see how Cobb's speed would be an advantage, but that's not the scenario we are in this year. It was a stupid thing to do," Ladd wrote.

"Mike Hartline did do some growing in this game, and he made some great passes. But then again we saw him miss some wide-open receivers. He doesn't seem to check off his receivers very quickly and stays in the pocket too long. The other issue I have with Hartline is there seems to be a lack of passion or excitement. I don't know if he is seen as a leader in the huddle, the locker room or in practice just yet. Am I wrong on that one?

"We did see some improvement in the run game, but when we get to the SEC schedule I am afraid we are going to be stuffed at the line and that means we become a one dimensional offensive team throwing which is not a strong dimension for us.

"So give me some encouragement as I take a week to recover from the near-LSU-like ending of this weekend."

The best encouragement I can offer is that Hartline was named SEC offensive player of the week for completing 28 of 47 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns.

UK was using Cobb at receiver because it lacks playmakers there and the coaches believe he needs to be on the field rather than watching from the sideline. Right or wrong, that's the theory. Plus, football coaches don't anticipate injuries.

As for the run game, no argument here. It must get better soon.

Just remember one thing: Kentucky is 3-0. Enjoy that more than anything this week.
