I guess we just wern't in a receiving mode as we just didn't want the present SC tried so hard to give us..
Rich Brooks looked at the stat sheet with the kind of pained expression normally reserved for your 401(k) these days.
His offense is tanking, and the University of Kentucky football coach knows there isn't a good enough defense in the world to bail out a team that converts just 1 of 16 third downs and completes just 3 of 11 fourth-quarter passes in a close game.
"Flat disgusted" was how Brooks described his mood after yesterday's 24-17 loss to South Carolina, then quickly decided those words weren't strong enough.
This game was a giveaway, plain and simple. South Carolina came in bent on football philanthropy. It gave away three first-quarter turnovers. It missed four field-goal tries. It did everything but put the game on a gift card and slip it into UK's pocket.
The Wildcats could not cash in because they could not move the ball. Now instead of UK being 5-1 and probably ranked, you have to wonder how many more wins this team can find with an offense this futile.
Mind-blowing stat: In 71 plays yesterday, the UK defense scored one touchdown. In 66 plays, the offense scored one touchdown. UK was almost as likely to score a TD playing defense as playing offense.

I feel vindicated in my comments regarding "playmaking"; this piece is filled with quotes of justification. Now if only Brooks and Phillips will recognize the obvious but I'm doubtful, as another newspaper piece commented: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the (Einstein's) definition of insanity.
