Cats and Dawgs today. Defense will have to play their best game of the season if they want to upset the Dogs today!

Hope we have some offense today as Ga will attempt to run us ragged then play action.

Hopefully Cobb will like the new triple option offense (2 backs) which hopefully will spread out the defense and allow us a little room to operate!!.

I've wondered why we don't try and run the option a little more with the QB we have now. It's a deadly weapon if you get it working in your favor!

We're on Defense first!

I hope we can keep Knoshon Moreno under control and not let him have a 200-yd day.

Georgia's 'D' is not that great, so hope KY's offense doesn't help them out.

See what I mean..22-yd gain on first play!

That was just too easy.................

GA 7-0

Why is Smith trying to cover Massaqua?

Cats down early 7-0!

Ga. defense will probably look all world today. This has to be their statement game after being humiliated last weekend!

PLEASE TELL ME WHY WE CALL A PASS PLAY WITH 3RD AND ONE?????????????????/

Good question.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 11:46 AM:

Our offense is back calling plays like Bill Curry was coach. Run on first, run on second pass on third. WHY! Just like coninuting to go on first HUT! Mix it up a little to keep teh defense on thier toes!

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 11-08-2008, 11:47 AM:

Joker has made some serious and questionable calls on offense this year. It makes me question his intelligence.

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 11-08-2008, 11:50 AM:

So far, we have not stopped anything today. GA is doing exactly what they want to on offense.

What happened to our good 'D'?

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 11:50 AM:

It's gonna be a long day!

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 11:52 AM:

Our defense can't come close to stopping them. We go to many more three and outs and we'll be down by 7 TD's by half!

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 11-08-2008, 11:52 AM:

GA is going to kill us today. Moreno and Stafford will have field days.

Having said that, I'm not going to post any more comments until I can say something good about KY.

I'm gonna keep saying it until we do it--we have got to get some speed. Ga. is so much faster on defense than we are on offense it's pitiful.

I guess I'll never understand some football rules. Defeense offside before the snap and teh play is dead. Offensive illegal shift and the play can stand even if the flag drops before the ball is snapped?

Calebration penalty should be assessed on extra point not on kickoff too by the way! So a play takes place between the penalty and when the penalty is assessed? [Confused]

I didn't realize the offense was allowed to tackle the defense I've seen it happen twice today!!

Ouch. Great pass by GA, then great run by the receiver.

Tough to hold this team back!

Stafford has a great arm -- perfect pass for the TD.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 12:44 PM:

I've seen Ga tackle on 2 seperate plays and get scores on both drives afterwards! Officials have to buck up and call plays too!

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 12:44 PM:

I cold've thrown that pass for the TD.. There wasn't a defender within 10 yards iof the reciever!

Come one Offense!

Defense keeps giving up the big play today!

Nice 30-yard kickoff return by Guy.

I really like this "pony" backfield that UK is running.

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 11-08-2008, 12:51 PM:

I think GA is looking for Cobb now. KY is going to have to throw it some when GA puts 10 in the box.

Big loss on 3rd and 2. We need to keep GA scoreless the rest of the half to stay in this game.

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 12:51 PM:

Center should've snapped it on first down. Easy 5 yards and a free play!

Posted by Tiptree (Member # 844) on 11-08-2008, 12:55 PM:

Painful. We had a great shot at a TD, then Gamble shot the edge expecting Cobb to sprint out -- and sacked him.

Then GA succeeds with a three-man rush, forcing Cobb to drop the ball on 4th down.

Argggh.

I continue to be impressed with our D, though. What a change from last year!

21-14 at the half. If defense stops teh big play we might be ahead in this game!

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 01:00 PM:

I realize that Georgia's offensive line is pretty good, but I'd like to see our defensive line put just a little more pressure on Stafford. We haven't gotten to him today, YET!!

Posted by Tiptree (Member # 844) on 11-08-2008, 01:00 PM:

Yes. I really like our two sustained scoring drives. That is great football, and gives the D a good breather.

Those big plays are due to the caliber of athletes that wear those red-and-white uniforms. Speed and quickness at every postion!

Posted by m hamilton (Member # 127) on 11-08-2008, 01:15 PM:

We need to get on the board early in this second half!

Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 11-08-2008, 01:25 PM:

Watching this offense, it makes me so mad that we waited SO DAMN LONG to put Cobb at full-time QB.

His ability to throw downfield and scramble keeps defenses honest--which allows us to run the ball the way we had planned to coming into the season.

Joker needs to also stop trying to get fancy on third and short, and needs to stop calling the same plays in the same situation. People are getting our habits down and stopping what he's calling as games wear on.

....and GREAT job by Dixon to hold onto that pitch, Cobb's gotta get it out sooner. This outside option from the I has been great for us.

AND WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL COBB THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE TO HAND IT OFF ON THAT PONY TRIPLE OPTION??? THE DE IS CRASHING EVERY TIME, HE'S GOT A TON OF ROOM OUT TO THE FRONT SIDE IF HE KEEPS IT WITH THE PITCH MAN!

Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 11-08-2008, 01:27 PM:

And Joker once again kills a promising drive with that stupid reverse. Why does he keep trying to do this crap?

Posted by jsence2 (Member # 2477) on 11-08-2008, 02:05 PM:

They also have to account for Cobb's ARM.

Unlike Hartline, he isn't afraid to throw downfield more than three yards, and he can also get out of the pocket (helping his wideouts get open). So the defense has to be much more honest.

And then we give up the big play....AGAIN. Damnit. We can't keep letting them get behind us!

I love how many times Georgia has held people today and gotten away with it. Guy was being held there, he couldn't get away from the punt. Another blown call against us.....why don't the refs just call the game and give it to Georgia?

We just gave the fumble right back to them on the interference on the punt play.

Maybe a little questionable call but if it had been on them, we would be saying "good call"

We're running three plays:

QB keeper

QB Read

Speed option

And we're moving the ball effectively. I LOVE it, let's keep it up!

Our wideouts are holding onto tough catches today, I've seen very few drops. Great job by the wideouts to help out Cobb. Great throw by Cobb too.

I think GA's average scoring drive today has been like 4 plays and 1:30. The clock may not be our friend at the end.

And here we go again, Joker's getting predictable.

We need to roll Cobb out of the pocket and give him the run/pass option, we're set up on the right hash for a lefty QB.

Great read by Braxton, that's what we need right now, that heads-up play.

Don't blow it on third down, don't arm tackle, don't go for the big play, just keep them out of the endzone. Give us a chance to play for the win or for overtime.

I'd rather have the two timeouts. That way, if they run it here and don't get it, or complete it, we can call timeout. Still have one timeout left to go down.

If they get the TD, then we still have two timeouts and can take some shots over the middle.

"Wow.

Our pass rush is giving Stafford way too much time to sit back there and find receivers wide open across the middle. Also, we do not have great cover guys other than Lindley.

And once again....Joker calls a play that everyone knew was coming.

Please please PLEASE get rid of Joker Phillips. We've run this so many times today, if you wanna run a screen, run a WR screen. Run something that Georgia HASN'T SEEN EIGHT TIMES TODAY, GOOD GOD!

Fire Joker Phillips. He got too much credit last year for the play of five NFL caliber players at skill positions. He's a JOKER of a playcaller, he cannot figure out that you CAN NOT win in the SEC with the same ten damn plays. He also can't figure out that when you run the same F******* plays in the SAME ******* situations, that teams FIGURE YOU OUT.

Exactly. Another reason Joker needs to be canned.

We tore them UP with the I-form run today. Running the option, running up the middle, running the FB dive. We need 15 yds, we have 48 seconds and a timeout. The entire fourth quarter, he kept Cobb in the shotgun. We got away from things that were WORKING, because Joker keeps forgetting to stick with WHAT WORKS. We get something going, and he changes everything up. We get into good situations and he calls cute plays. We get into pressure situations and he sticks with the same four or five plays that he's comfortable with--which everyone knows is coming.

Joker isn't the one throwing the pass. Or the one throwing the block on the lineman who has a chance to get up in teh air to intercept that play. J2 Shame on you!!

Posted by ALA_KAT2 (Member # 1559) on 11-08-2008, 03:01 PM:

m hamilton, I think we have a passing game if they would use the TE's more like that last pass completion to Grinter. We just need to find plays that work and find the open receiver. We've not done a good job of that this year, but Cobb can buy time with his feet. Unfortunately, he's a Freshman and makes some Freshman mistakes.

But the loss today was on the 'D' and especially on the secondary D.

Joker is the one who keeps calling the exact same plays in the exact same situations.

He's done it all year. He did it last year. Last year, though, we had superior talent that could make it work even when they knew it was coming.

Football 101--you don't run a QB to his non-throwing side in a key running/passing play.

Football 101--you don't call a five-step drop on third and one. If you're gonna pass and you don't go play action, it's three steps and you get rid of it, or you tuck and run.

Football 101--if you want to win a game late, you don't call a play that you've run ten times, a play that requires the defense to be fooled in order to succeed. You run something they haven't seen or you run something that has an outlet if you can't make it happen. The screen pass, he's backpedaling with no blockers. He has only one place to throw it, and if it doesn't work, he's in no-mans land.

A screen pass won't work in that situation, the defense is taught that close to keep everything in front of them. You want to contain the mobile QB, so you don't run him hard. Therefore, when those DL see the OL come out, it's simple to figure out. If Joker was worth a damn, he'd GET THIS. It's simple football. I want to be a coach one day, I work with a pee-wee team here in Louisville. These are BASIC PLAY CALLING rules. Joker can't get them, and he's cost us games because of it.

You're right, Alakatz. D secondary gave up too many big plays. Our Offense scored more points this weekend than we've been averaging!

The pass was a bad decision by Cobb, he should have just thrown it away. That's something he will learn...or would have learned if he had been playing QB the whole year...but it doesn't do any good now.

Randall Cobb is a special player. UK wouldn't have been in the position to beat Georgia today if it weren't for him. I thought some of the play calls were suspect. Running Dixon up the middle on that last drive...I thought Bill Curry was in the booth for a minute.

I was really hoping UK would punch in one of the UGA turnovers and give themselves a 2 score cushion.

But, that's the way it goes. This game made me feel a lot better about the Vandy and UT games though. This is a tough one to swallow but I am very pleased with the offensive production today. Nearly 250 yards rushing today for the Cats. That is very encouraging to me.

Georgia stole one from UK and they know it and so does everyone in the SEC. We need to put this game behind us and take Vandy and UT to the woodshed.

Hindsight is easily 20/20, J2. I've coached football before I know what you do and don't do. PAssing was the right call in that situation cause teh D is expecting the QB to keep the ball.

Jus t like if you don't make it on those 4th down plays earlier inteh game. It's easy to say,"They should've kicked teh ball."

I have no problem with him passing there.

Just don't call plays that have a very low reward and a very high risk.

We may have the worst defense I've ever seen. My flag Football team could've moved the ball on UK's Pathetic D today. If My Cats miss as many Flags as they do tackles we'd score on every play. D effort was embarassing.

You are right, J2. With the exception of the FL game we've been in every game we've played in. We've lost some key players this year to injury. An all-American DB. OUr best side reciever(Lyons), and our best running back (Locke) And we are still in some big games against some pretty good teams!

I have to agree with J2, pitiful play call by Joker on that last play. The screen hadn't worked all day. Let Cobb try to win it with his feet. Cats coulda shoulda won this one, even with the D not playing up to par.

Brooks said that Joker sent in the audible because they thought Georgia was going to blitz. So yes, it was Joker's call.

I thought they might throw to Grinter out of the backfield. Let him find a spot underneath the LB's and pick up the first down.

It is what it is. We should reflect on it today and put it behind us tomorrow.
