Randall Cobb is arguably one of the greatest true freshmen players to ever put on the jersey. What he can do not only athletically, but what he brings to the table in leadership, is unmatched by anyone I know of at his age. It wasn't the 102 rushing yards or the three touchdowns he scored that stood out the most, but instead, every time his team was down, he was out there clapping in the huddle, slapping his teammates helmets and preparing them for the next play. With all of the offensive struggles this season, the team got behind a solid leader yesterday that led them to 38 points against the #13 team in the nation.

All that and yet there are still those who propose moving Randall Cobb to some position other than QB, that is so nonsensical that I do not see how a rational, observant person can entertain such a thought. It boggles the mind more than Brooks/Phillips not having much earlier in the season the realization of Cobb's performance.

What I hate to see this season is Cobb being used to return punts. I don't care how great an athlete he is, UK doesn't have a replacement QB who is a gamer, right now.

As for those speculating about next season, if one of the two young guns can unseat him, it would be a great thing for the program. Cobb is now a star. If he gets beat out at QB, then the incoming player must be one heck of a gamer. But, I'm sure that Cobb will have to get beat out for the job. And, nobody would need to feel sorry for Cobb, because he would then be a star receiver or a star at whatever position he is on the field.

I give some big ups to the coaching staff for adjusting their offensive scheme to fit the personel. More option runs, spread and scramble, rollout, etc. He seemed to have a little more chemistry with his olf HS teammate Lanxter...now if we can get Boyd to step up(or someone on the outside). I will say this for the much maligned receiving corp...the youngsters blocked well last game. Cobb has had a couple passes batted down when in the pocket as well so I like him on the move and with the run/pass option. He shows natural leadership ability and it should be fun to watch his progress (as well as the progress in cohesion with his teammates).
