I don't think we have the depth to support any injuries. We just need to keep up-grading our recruting...
By their very nature, Senior Nights are a time for reflection and nostalgia.
Unfortunately for University of Kentucky football, the 2008 farewell to its departing players featured an unwelcome blast from UK's recent football past.
What has gone wrong with the Kentucky defense?
On a night when UK had a prime chance to secure a seventh win for a third consecutive season for the first time in 57 years, the Cats instead lost 31-24 to Vanderbilt.
The staunch Kentucky defense that all but beat Louisville by itself in the 2008 season opener now seems a distant memory.
After not allowing a foe to score more than 24 points in a game in its first six contests, Saturday night was the third time in the last four games in which the Kentucky 'D' surrendered 30 points or more.

I can't lay the total number of points scored in this game entirely on the defense because the offense and special teams did them no favors at all. Only gave up 7 in the 2nd half and without another penalty we have a pick and end that Vandy scoring threat as well. I hate it but we were beat in the trenches and I do think fatigue/lack of depth came into play. A sidebar that had nothing to do with the outcome but got under my skin none the less was the wrongfully repeated statement that Moore had beaten Lindley twice for touchdowns in the first half. Saw the replays over and over and it was 36 (Mcatee I believe) on one and Lindley on the other. Aside from the ONE time burn from Moore-Lindley locked him up.

I think once we got into SEC play, the defense became a step slow. Many missed tackles were due to the defender not being able to get to the spot as fast as the man they were pursuing.
Last night against Vandy, I saw defenders taking plays off. On Vandy's last touchdown drive, a Vandy back was tackled at the 4 yd line by a couple KY defenders. However, the back continued to churn his legs and ultimately was able to move the stack for 2 additional yards, while 4 KY backs stood there and watched. There was no urgency to the ball by those who thought their teammates would make the play by themselves.
Also, by not Blitzing and by not mixing up the defensive schemes, our defense has become too predictable and allows the opposing QB way too much time to sit back and pick out receivers. That's Steve Brown's fault.

I suspect Lindley wasn't 100%. Why their QB didn't get a spy on him, the whole game, is beyond me?
