They said on the TV that it was his mouth piece that came flying out, but I think it was his earpiece!

It was the earpiece/jaw pad.
I thought it was the mouthpiece at first myself. But after seeing the replay you could tell it was the jaw pad.
That was just awesome.

It was comical-It was like something you'd see in Mad Magazine where the guys hand/fist goes through the other guys face/head. A George Foremanesque jab that dummied the tackler.
