Kentucky landed its 27th commitment for the Class of 2009 on Saturday when Terrell Mitchell of Powder Springs, Ga., announced his decision.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he gave up on a hoped-for call from Georgia and chose the Cats over his other finalist, Michigan.

Wow! A 6-6 tight-end that we snatched from either Georgia or Michigan; he sounds like a real pick-up.

I think the article says that he was holding out for an offer from Georgia and never got the offer. He then chose UK over Michigan. Definitely a good addition to the Wildcats.

ACF, is correct, Georgia did not offer Mitchell a schooly but that doesn't take away from the fact that he isn't a great player. Georgia has made recruting mistakes in the past and will in the future. Let's just hope this is a Georgia mistake and a great decision by Kentucky to offer him a schooly..

The Bulldogs are chasing hard after Orson Charles of Tampa. Charles, favors Miami, is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 tight end by Rivals, and plays on the same high school team as quarterback Aaron Murray, who has committed to Georgia. This may be another mistake if Charles goes to Miami or Florida and not Georgia..

Georgia has done well at the TE position over the years but there is no doubt that they have passed on some very good players at a number of positions and, quite frankly, even if they get a higher ranked TE that doesn't mean for a second that Mitchell won't be a great find for UK.

I think a good number of QBs were ranked higher than Kurt Warner coming out of college, for example.
