Here is a look how the media sizes up all the SEC teams quarterback situations...I think before it's all said and done that freshman Morgan Newton will be our man..Who do you think will be our quarterback next year?

Rich Brooks says that Mike Hartline heads into the spring as the starting quarterback. The junior from Canton, Ohio helped rally the Wildcats in their bowl win last season and played well in that game. He was inconsistent, though, throughout much of the season and lost his job at one point to true freshman Randall Cobb, who remains the most dynamic athlete on the team. Cobb's quarterback days aren't over, and Hartline will have to play well to keep from being overtaken by Cobb again. The Wildcats also signed two highly rated quarterbacks in the 2009 class -- Morgan Newton and Ryan Mossakowski. Newton could really make things interesting this fall.

I dont know who will win the starting job and dont really care. I am just tickled that we have some high quality kids battling it out for the position.
I would love to see Cobb play WR and also bring him in at QB to run the wildcat formation.

I, personally, hope that one of the freshman can come in and dominate. That being said, if Hartline can eliminate all of those wobbly and sailing throws and start hitting his guys in stride, I would be all for him getting the starting nod.

I'm with you, boomdaddy. Hartline isn't a bad QB, he's just inconsistent and often makes poor decisions on the field.

I hope the off season has been a good time for him to work on those inconsistencies and that he becomes a solid QB.

I can't wait to see how Morgan looks. He is going to surprise a lot of fans with his size, intelligence and abilities. Might be wrong but he very easily could be someone special right from the get-go...

An interesting thought -- If Hartline can achieve the necessary consistency and decision-making abilities to earn the starting job, we could conceivably use both Cobb and Newton as receivers. Both have the ability to gain yardage after the catch, so even a return to a short passing game might be effective next year.

Another enticing possibility -- Newton and Cobb together in the backfield, in a split-back shotgun configuration. Imagine the possibilities!
