It probably will be a long shot to sign Kenneth Carter a DT from Alabama but it does show we are on the lists of some of the better recruits.
On paper Carter has good size, but nothing that would make you go wow, but when you physically see him on film you realize this is a pretty big kid. He looks every inch of his listed 6-foot-4 and has a great wingspan. This is a bit old school, but he has a Mean Joe Greene / Jumpy Geathers type build. He moves around the defensive line in high school, but is likely more of a true interior player in college. Displays flashes of good quickness off the ball. Displays good strength and when he makes contact with a blocker he can knock him back. Naturally when he uses his hands he is tough to block with his reach, but needs to do a better job of bringing his hands. He is a big kid and plays that way and needs to be aware of his pad level as he can allow blockers to get into his chest. He will work to get across the ball and stay square. With his build he can swallow up and reel in ball carriers, but needs to not get his shoulders turned. He has adequate speed and short-area change-of-direction skills. Has a pass rusher he can bull his way back and if he gets his hands up he can be a tough obstacle to throw over. Carter is a big kid and can be disruptive. His build can be an asset, but also a hurdle at times if he does not sure up his technique. Overall though could be a solid presence in the trenches at the college level.
