Coach Rich Brooks expressed optimism about the team's prospects at the strong safety and free safety positions following Monday afternoon's practice at the Nutter Training Center.

“They can be interchangeable, so there's six guys battling for two spots,” Brooks said, referring to seniors Ashton Cobb and Calvin Harrison, along with sophomores Winston Guy, Matt Lentz, Taiedo Smith and Greg Wilson. “I think we're going to be better at safety than we've been since I've been here. I feel pretty comfortable with any of those guys right now. It's just a matter of seeing who gets the edge and who gets the starts. I'm sure there's going to be some guys rotating in there and getting some snaps.”
