Wanting to get some opinions on Saban's choice to fake a field goal with less than 4 minutes and an 18 point lead.

Personally I didn't much care for it when he did it, but I thought maybe he was doing like they said and just wanting to eat up the clock, then they throw a bomb into the endzone instead of running the clock out.

thoughts?

They did it because UK was calling their timeouts. Obviously UK wasn't giving up by calling the timeouts so Bama chose to attack.

I see nothing wrong with the fake punt or the throw into the endzone due to UK calling the timeouts.

Spot on, TB. It's big time football with big time consequences (Read: polls). That attitude by Saban is why he is where he is, earns what he earns, and his team has the players and records it does.

I agree as well. That was a smart call on Saban's part. I thought UK should have stopped the runner, but that is a different story. I didn't like the result of the play, but after the play was over, I looked at my son and said, "That was a good play to call. Even if UK would have stopped it, it still would have been a good call."

Personally, I would have saved that for a close game. But, I don't get paid big money to coach football.
