Lovers of mystery might want to tune in Saturday when the University of Kentucky football team hosts Louisiana-Monroe.
There are sure to be deceptions and red herrings, unforeseen plot twists and characters whose roles change throughout the night. And that's just at quarterback. When the Wildcats (3-3) entertain the Warhawks (4-2) at Commonwealth Stadium at 7 p.m., as many as five players are likely to take snaps at quarterback. Louisiana-Monroe will play its first full game without starter Trey Revell. UK enters its second full game without Mike Hartline. “There's no way, I don't think, they feel as comfortable (with a backup),” UK coach Rich Brooks said. “Just like we don't feel as comfortable without our starting quarterback. That will be a challenge for them. We'll just have to wait and see how they handle it and what they're choosing to do.”
Redshirt freshman Cody Wells will make his first start for Louisiana-Monroe. He filled in after a thumb injury sidelined Revell during a 16-10 victory at Arkansas State on Oct.13 and completed 5of9 passes for 67 yards. “He's a guy that's a very good leader,” ULM coach Charlie Weatherbie said. “… He's a very good passer — very accurate passer. He can move around well enough to get out of trouble, so he was a guy that we felt like could do what we wanted to do offensively.” The Warhawks also will use wide receiver Darrell McNeal at quarterback in a wildcat formation. UK, meanwhile, is likely to start true freshman Morgan Newton for the second straight game in place of Hartline, who's out indefinitely with a knee injury. The Cats probably also will use Will Fidler and will line up wide receiver Randall Cobb in their own wildcat formation.

I'm not sure I like the sound of this Cody Wells QB for La-Monroe. KY has traditionally had trouble containing QBs who are good at scrambling. Let's hope we don't let this guy have a career day against us.

Wells had a career day, but not with his feet. He shredded our secondary for nearly 300 yards.
OTOH, our QB situation is far from solid right now. No QB impressed tonight for UK.
Fidler needs to find the secondary receivers instead of looking at one guy for 5 seconds.

Like I said on another thread even a QB like Tebow didn't have an outstanding night. He's passed for 127 yards!

Wells had only thrown 13 times coming into tonights game. He had a great game for a player with that type of college expieriance.

ULM's receivers made some very good catches for Wells. I can't remember any drops.

Our starting QB crew doesn't have much more experience!

Makes you wonder how a smaller school like L-M can find a QB like Wells as a back-up..

The Southern states seem to be where a significant amount of football talent resides!
Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, etc.

WElls took some big hits and got right back up. I can remember two hits that he took and didn't think he would get back up but jumped right up. I bet he is sitting in the tub today
