With Kentucky down a touchdown early in the 4th quarter, why did Joker call for two QB draws with Newton and not Cobb? Larry Vaught reports that Brooks wanted Newton to check out of the first run, but the freshman QB didn’t see the call. On the second run, Brooks said that MSU made a good play stopping Newton. On the third-and-goal play that resulted in the back-breaking INT, Brooks said the play was a sprint-out pass option with Newton’s first option being Cobb. Unfortunately State’s pressure never gave the true freshmen QB time to make a play, Brooks said.

Yeah, and if they could have stopped the run, they would also have won the game. That back for State looked like Jerome Bettis, running over defenders.

The offense made mistakes no doubt about it but the defensive side of the ball was where we really got a butt kicked. We were not prepared and made no adjustments. It was the same thing from the first play till the last and right or wrong it's the head coachs responsibility to make those adjustments.

As much as I like Coach Brooks personally and professionally, I think that post sums up last night better than all the newspaper columns and stories. But I'm still wondering why Fidler did not even get one snap last night?
