The season is not lost but it is not going to be the type season we thought it would be if we won this game,” said UK coach Rich Brooks. “The key thing is to bounce back and get a win before we go on the road and then try to steal one or two on the road and get bowl eligible. No question this is a very disappointing loss.”
Disappointing? Try season-wrecking.
But what was more perplexing were the plays UK called — or didn’t call — when it had a first down at the 4-yard line trailing 31-24. Rather than let Randall Cobb or Derrick Locke, the team’s two best playmakers and two most experienced offensive players, touch the ball, freshman quarterback Morgan Newton ran twice for only one yard and then threw an interception as he was pressured rolling out.

I have another question for anyone who can answer it, Why did Will Fidler not get even one snap last night? I'm not knocking Morgan Newton, but it was obvious we needed someone at various times in the game who could complete a pass, so why not Fidler?

Bayer I agree - if we are thinking this could be a "break out" season why did the coaching staff stick with Newton when using both him and Filder worked so well at Auburn and last week,
I could see them having him play the entire game if the season was pretty much "lost" and he needed the snaps but in this instance - makes me just shake my head!!

I am still shaking my head. How do you not get the ball to your main playmaker Cobb the last 28 plays of the game? Completely perplexing.

This isn't the only game the coaches have cost us in my opinion. It's a shame to see the kids play so hard only to have some bone head decisions by coaches cost them. I'm sure they're frustrated. This was really a season killer.

24 points should have been plenty to win the game. Was the play calling perplexing? Yes. But the defense was absolutley awful. They could not stop Dixon all night and the pass defense was not much better.

cg, i agree 100%...The defense just did not play well. They knew who would get the ball and where he was going and they still couldn't stop them...
