We have 3 games left and we all want to see us win all 3 games but if you think about it we very easily could lose all 3 and 2 of them are almost a given. We may have a legitiment chance against Vandy but after watching them play Florida in the swamp my mind tells me we will have to be very fortunate to beat even Vandy.

My take on this year's squad is that coming in to the season, we looked ready to go to an unprecedented fourth-straight bowl game, and possibly even something a bit higher up the food chain than our usual Music City or Liberty bowl invites.

We had an adequate, but not flashy QB pushed by a talented stable of newcomers, not to mention a QB-turned-WR that could easily step back under center. We heard rumors and reports about an improved receiving corps. We had a stable of SEC-caliber running backs. And we had a senior-laden offensive line.

On defense, we had a solid D-line, an All-American in the backfield, a beast at middle linebacker, and solid play at most other positions.

I had even allowed myself to dream of winning against Spurrier and silencing the drone of Rocky Top, while giving good showings against even the best of the SEC...

Alas.

Stud d-back -- out.
Starting QB -- out.
Stud d-lineman -- in the NFL.
Receiver corps -- vaporware.
backup QBs -- Not Ready for Prime Time

We have this ridiculous 'QB by committee' thing going on, a run defense that is best described as "sickly", and a surprisingly unimaginative playbook on both sides of the ball. Not at all what I thought we were building towards...

So, here we sit, 5-4 and looking at Vandy, Georgia, and Tennessee. All three look to be challenges that we might not be up to facing.

While one never knows how a 60 or so 20-ish kids will react, my mind tells me that we are looking at 5-7 and staying home for the holidays...

Kentucky 14, Vanderbilt 10, a late int by Lindley
ends a Vandy drive in the fourth quarter. Hartline goes into victory formation at the eighteen yardline as Tom Leach goes crazy on The Big Blue Sports Network!. We are bowl eligible at 6-4, with games left to play at Georgia and home finale vs Lane kiffin's Vols.
