Looks like Louisville had better look at plan "B".
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden has signed a multi-year extension with ESPN. Gruden will continue to be an analyst on Monday Night Football, and will work other NFL related events for ESPN. In May of 2009, Gruden signed with ESPN after being fired by the Bucs in January.
Gruden will cover the NFL Draft and Super Bowl week coverage. Along with the NFL, Gruden will serve as an analyst for ESPN Radio's 2010 Rose Bowl and Bowl Championship Series (BCS) title game broadcasts.
"Working with Mike, Jaws and our entire Monday Night Football team is the most fun I have had in years, and I am fired up to make this long-term commitment to ESPN," said Gruden. “Monday Night Football is special and I look forward to remaining a part of it and continuing to call these great games.”
Gruden served as an NFL head coach for 11 seasons with the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He won Super Bowl XXXVII with his Bucs defeating Oakland 48-21.
If Gruden stays with ESPN through the extension it could have an impact on the Bucs coaching position. The Bucs owners, the Glazers family, owe Gruden through the 2011 season. If Gruden takes a coaching job the Glazers would not have to continue to pay Gruden, and would have more money available to make a coaching change in Tampa Bay.

I think it was wishful thinking on their part to think they were gonna sign Gruden to Coach UL!!

Ole Lullyvile thought they had a shot at him. Seems in the end he had no real interest in taking over a program of such low profile!

He is still getting severence pay from the nfl team without the headaches. I'd be willing to bet that he is happy as a lark right now.
