There is absolutely no ADVANTAGE for Kentucky by playing Louisville in football. Its simply put a lose/lose situation. Why?, When we win we're "supposed" to win aren't we?, we are the stronger school, we play in the SEC, perenially the nations toughest football conference. We are THE state school, not Louisville.

When we lose it only favors Louisville in gaining recognition for their program and all importantly in recruiting, especially inside the Louisville/Jefferson county area, which historically has been so vital for the Kentucky program over the years.

Playing Louisville only offers a "chance" for Louisville to better itself, it simply adds nothing to Kentucky, except a chance to lose to a team we have no business losing to and lowering the expectations of the program.

Joker Phillips was under the gun going into this game, the pressure was unbelievable. The Louisville coach only had to show up and hope for a close score, he "wins" anyway you slice it.
The 23-16 score will be played up in the Louisville media and Louisville fanbase as a "victory". It marks the fourth straight year Kentucky has won the game. Looking ahead to next year, should Cobb return along with plenty of talent to go along with him, we should make it five in a row at Commonwealth Stadium.

I'm sorry but in this rivalry, Kentucky is behind the eight ball. Thoughts?

Bluecat, I don't think it's a lose-lose situation in fact i think our recruiting in Jefferson County is much better these last few years. We have won the last 4 games and it looks like we will be dominant for years to come.

Look at it from the Cardinals perspective they must hate having to play us knowing we are getting the lions share of the recruits and are getting better by the year. Being little brother can't be a lot of fun.

"We are getting better by the year, and are getting the lions share of recuits". Catmandoo, what you wrote is most important. That is the high standard we must maintain.

By most accounts we should have scored at least forty=points yesterday. Save for one long run that resulted in Louisville's only TD, our defense played stellar in a game hell bent by UL to do us in.

Lets see how well they play next week. UL surely will have a letdown as they place all their eggs in one basket every year when they play Kentucky.

On the other hand, Joker and the Wildcats should be much more relaxed in the home opener
.

Oh well, wonder how the Ole miss fans feel today? [Eek!]

From a recruiting standpoint, this game is necessary. We need to be able to shut-up the Cards every once in a while or they will take all the props with their cupcake conference that they can.
